Horrible dating experience

It been just over 2 years since my wife passed. I have been on various dating sites and had a few dates. Recently I had a date after almost a year of no dates. It happened really fast and I thought maybe this woman could be something. She was also a widow. I knew the date itself could have been better. I tried to the best I could just see where it would go. I was starting to like her a lot.
To get to the point. I got a message today which was totally unexpected. She told me I mistreated her and all the mistakes I had made on the date. How I misrepresented myself and was a lousy date. Apparently I really blew it.
Maybe I was not the most fun date. But it really makes me feel like I am some worthless human being who should be locked up from the rest of society. My gut reaction is to take down my dating profiles and go shoot myself. This was so unexpected I feel awfull and I am trying to figure out how to recover from this. I was starting to feel better and thought my life was starting back on track. Now this. It really calls a lot into question about my life. I feel horrable. Help!

Think about what she said that according to her...you did wrong. Really be honest with yourself. Does she have any good points? Could you maybe change some things that you had done that annoyed her? You did say it could have been better. My point is to take a good long honest look at yourself too and think about what you might have done differently if anything. Learn from this lesson and apply it to the next date. And yes there will be, and should be other dates!
Stop feeling horrible. Now is the time in your life when you have to be like a duck in the water and let these things just roll right off your back! Learn from it, let it go and move on Mark! She wasn't the one and that's that. Lick your wounds but get back up and at it. You've come so far, don't let this little blip in your life scar you. You've been through much worse and survived. You've got this!
Tomorrow is another day.....bright and fresh....you'll be okay!

Live for yourself, be yourself, don't be who someone else want you to be.

The next date will probably be entirely different.
Having some things in common is important and will make for a more interesting date. Go back out there and have fun. We care. Dolores
I think it takes a while to find someone who might be compatible with you, and also to whom you are attracted. Then, bear in mind that it has to be mutual. Odds are tough at my age (54) I know, but I just go along with the hope that if I find people I like spending time with (as friends), then eventually, I'll move towards finding someone who can be more than a friend.
I say give yourself tremendous credit for trying, and chalk this one up to the fact that there are some really nutty people out there. Kind of makes you want to just stay in and watch Netflix, but don't give up!
I was nearly 58 when my beloved husband of over 38 years died. I dated numerous gentlemen afterwards. Most of them were fine, but a few were definitely not "suitable" shall we say. I just didn't go out with them again.
Eventually I met a kind man who I love. Don't even give that message another thought. And don't give up.

I hate to put it out as if I know what I'm talking about...
I'm so sorry she did this to you. But it was not at all appropriate for her to do this. Not in any way, shape or form.
I suspect there was a lot of bitterness and anger in her last marriage and she used you as a punching bag for all the 'wrongs' she had with others.
I've had some really bad dates... but never did I send a critique to anyone about the date and about them personally, just that I felt we were not suited for each other. Even for those where it was very clear that I might be their ideal, but they were definitely not mine.
Even as self-aware as I like to think myself, my 'baggage' can creep in and reek havoc - just see my post about my past baggage and the challenges it presented with Art. Dang I'm glad he's a patient man and clever enough to understand.
It's not you, sweetie.
Regroup, take some time to pamper yourself, and try again in a while. If you have a female friend or relative with whom you can discuss this, get their opinion on things YOU think you might improve.
None of us were dating experts before... and it's tougher now, with expectations being so high.
Sending big hugs. xo Jacq.
