Hello Everyone, Happy to have found this group...don't know how soon after is too soon....not that I expect to find what I had with my wife Dee, but, I know I can' t be with her and she can't be with me...and the void is chasmic...so I felt that this group might be a good place to explore others' experiences and share my feelings as well...I don't have to tell anyone here about the emptiness, loneliness and sadness...and I still feel I can offer someone something positive...but also how to cope with friends/ family telling me I am acting too soon...any feedback welcome...Thanks, Alex

Hi ALEX, I lost my husband just a short time ago. I am on the other websight that a number of posters here are on. It's the first place I go and read in the morning. But I need to read happiness as well. I am not looking to find anyone but would so like to email others in my situation just to carry on a conversation.
I have my son who so misses his dad, we have talked and yesterday went and chopped wood together. It was sad because Ray and I always did that together but nice I was with my son. We talked memories and even shed a few tears together.
But friends as soon as I mention Ray's name they stiffen up so I don't say any more.
I just would like to write to people, male and/or female who are in the same situation that I can share stories, feelings and just let it out and know they aren't put off if I cry and share. I would like to have more then a post of feelings and people answer but it is really just a one way conversation..

I'm coming up in 2 years. Looking back, I wish I could say that I waited to date. I didn't. The void left is unbelievable. I did start grieving for my husband pretty soon after his diagnosis. 18 months later, he died. So, in all, I've grieved 3 1/2 years. Long time. I didn't consider anybody else until he had passed but as soon as he passed, I noticed other men.
You really do have to do what your heart needs. This isn't an easy journey and being with someone else doesn't make it easier or better. It actually complicates it because we look for our late spouse. We won't find them. I Really have to try hard to not compare.
