After taking it for 6 years and complaining about spasms for 5 years, I finally started doing on own research to learn many, many have these same side effects. I mean spasms in the feet and toes, hands and fingers, and oh ya.....the legs! Sometimes 20 spasms a day. I thought if my doctor told me one more time "add more potassium" or "drink more water", I would smack him down.

I tossed out the Lipitor a week ago and let me tell you.......not even ONE spasms this whole week. But now to find something else and from what I'm reading, many of these cholesterol meds do the same thing so not sure what to do.

A bit of history since I'm "new" here. After many years of not seeing a doctor (busy raising kids, no insurance, busy at work) I was so ill I couldn't put it off any longer. Turns out I was Hypothyroid, also had Rheumatoid Arthritis and too many other things to mention here but my cholesterol level was 288. Doc said I was "stroke city".

My normal weight was 124 but I had gained about 14 pounds, fatigued beyond belief, dry skin, hair falling out and the cholesterol out of sight. After getting on the thyroid medication, my cholesterol dropped 100 points. I've read so much about aching muscles, weight people can't lose, cholesterol they can't control, etc, but I don't hear one word if anyone may have thyroid problems but haven't bothered to get tested. Turns out my grandmother, mother and brother all are hypothyroid as well as my son. Goofy family I guess because no one even mentioned it. But, that problem has now resolved itself with proper medication but I still need to work on they cholesterol. Another generic thing we have going on.
