So please advise what to do now? As i am only 30 year old man
I was diagnosed Gastritis and recently cured and now doctor advised me to lower my cholesterol numbers.
Follow a good diet and exercise moderately and you should be fine
.
Most of the Doc's around here think the lower the better. My doc is
a functional integrative guy and he does not believe that numbers tell the whole story.
Get a second opinion if you can, ask around for a good Dr.
My Cholesterol has been over 300 for at least 10 years and I am still here. Nothing will bring it down
I think you are doing great.
Read everything you can and talk to other doc's if possible.
Here is your answer on what to do:
1. Adapt to the understanding there is really nothing wrong with your cholesterol numbers.
2. Understand there is a sales game playing out in today's modern Doctor's office. Sadly, visiting the doctor can sometimes be no different than walking onto a used car lot.
3. Ask yourself if you even have heart disease. If not, then why would you treat yourself for a disease you don't have?
4. Understand this is all about sales. In sales perception is everything. People think if they lower their cholesterol they are lowering risk for heart attack. But that's just perception. Nobody can prove that taking these drugs prevented a heart attack for themselves. Nobody.
5. Take good care of yourself. Eat right, sleep well, exercise, and live a healthy lifestyle.
There are times when Doctors can offer us valuable and lifesaving service. But when a Doctor advises a young person like you with a cholesterol of only 219 to take a cholesterol lowering drug, this is what you do.
Mentally take the white coat off the doctor. Replace it in your mind with a loud plaid jacket. Now envision the doctor in the plaid jacket with greased slicked back hair. Now imagine a flashing neon sign on the wall that says USED CARS.
Now you have 20/20 vision as to why you were sold that drug.
A classic example is Saturn cars. I know first hand. I worked for a Saturn service department for 7 years.
GM created Saturn to compete with Toyota and Honda back in the 1990's. GM portrayed their new Saturn as a reliable quality built car.
People flocked to new Saturn dealer showrooms for this hot new car. If you wanted a Saturn, get in line. There were only demos on the lot and you had to order your Saturn and wait, and wait, and wait for it to arrive.
The new Saturn was perceived as the hottest new car on the planet.... until things started to go wrong.
Honda and Toyota customers were first to trade out of their Saturns and go back to what they were driving before. Saturn inventory was now widely available on the lot.
I personally witnessed the unreal problems with the car. An engine mount had a 2 year lifespan before it would collapse and cause a horrid metal on metal vibration. The brake rotors were made of ultra cheap metal and would warp causing brake pedal pulsating even under gentle driving conditions. Door seals on new Saturns leaked in the rain or going thru a car wash, water dripping on the driver. Now for the worst. A 50 cent screen was omitted in manufacturing that would filter out debris from entering the AC ventilation system. This leaf debris would collect in the AC Evaporator coil. The acid in the leaves would eat through the AC coil and all the freon would leak out. $1,500 to replace the coil.
Consumer PERCEPTION this was the greatest car in the world gradually faded into disappointment and disgust. Sales dropped off and GM decided to close all Saturn stores after a 30 year run.
In sales perception is everything. A product doesn't have to be good to sell like hotcakes as long as everyone THINKS its good. But eventually the public catches on. In the case of saturn it took 3 decades.
Statins have been on the market for 28 years, and pretty much the same thing is playing out. People disgusted with the side effects. The "wonder drug" image is fading, and eventually these "life saving" pills will go the way of Saturn.
Its already happened for NIASPAN and other niacin products that in the beginning were touted as saving people from heart attacks, but it took 40 years to learn the truth. For 4 decades we perceived niacin as being able to prevent heart attacks. Turns out it doesn't.
In sales Consumer perception is everything, and that perception sold worthless pills for 4 decades.
I hope this brings things to light. It boils down one old saying. "Let the consumer beware."
Everyone be blessed.
Is it happen?
