One thing you might try is having some beets or beet juice. I saw some in the refrigerated part of the produce department over the weekend that were already steamed & ready to eat. The beets have some nitrates in them that relax the muscle tissue & makes blood flow easier.
The diastolic number shows the force on the arteries when the heart is at rest after pumping the blood. But if you have excess LDL cholesterol & fats in your arteries, they can get backed up, which causes high diastolic blood pressure. That might also explain having that after a holiday?
Best thing is to make sure to lower salt intake, get that exercise going again, & do what you need to to keep blood pressure good. Oh, & oatmeal helps get some of the bad LDL out of your system. Adding some cinnamon & raisins helps blood pressure too, & makes it taste delicious! : )
