High Blood Pressure Support Group
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a medical condition wherein the blood pressure is chronically elevated. Persistent hypertension is one of the risk factors for strokes, heart attacks, heart failure and arterial aneurysm, and is a leading cause of chronic renal failure. Doctors recommend weight loss and regular exercise as the first steps in treating mild to moderate...
Two years ago I was taking Avapro 300mg, HCTZ 25mg, Atenolol 50mg and Amlodipine 10mg. I started using a natural supplement called ProArgi-9+ in November 2013.
Today I'm only on Amlodipine 5mg. Even my doctor was impressed by the results. If you want more info, please read an article on my blog. The url is http://www.healthydiethouse.com/vitamins-supplements/best-l-arginine-supplement/.
If you have questions, I'll be more than happy to answer them.
Happy New Year!
Thanks!
Please don't give up or think it's too late. High blood pressure is incredibly common and if you don't do a thing to get it under control, there can be serious consequences. You're working on it. And yes, it goes up and down all day. Mine is as low as 109/68 sometimes and as high as 160/96. If your arm is in a slightly different position, you're talking or you need to pee, it can be higher or lower.
Also remember that pharmaceutical companies want to sell their meds and one of the BEST ways to sell something is to scare people. Why are people over-insured? They're afraid. Lifelock, security systems, diets, medicines... So, if you're super scared and think the meds will save you, you're willing to take them even if they have awful side effects and are expensive.
HBP is serious and it's important to address it, but don't feel like you're about to keel over. That just raises it and then the doctor gives you more meds.
What my MD suggests is eating mostly vegetables - 80% above ground and 20% max root veggies (they tend to have more sugar). Then 4 - 8 ounces of meat. Eggs are okay. She wants me to eat organic, grass fed meats and eggs from pasture raised chickens.
No sugar. At all. If I am dying for something sweet, organic berries and I need to limit them. Beets have a lot of sugar in them BTW so that's out for me.
I can have Himalayan salt but nothing Morton's. And I'm supposed to skip the carbs as much as possible. I can have fats on veggies - olive oil, coconut oil, ghee and that helps.
For alternative medicines, she has me on quite a bit of fish oil, CoQ10, primrose oil, turmeric, D3 and magnesium. She also has me taking epsom salt baths and meditating daily. And she just started me on 3 - 5 cups of Hibiscus tea each day.
For exercise, I walk on the treadmill when I can or if my joints are cranky, I walk in the pool. I also do some weight lifting. And I got Wii sports which is really fun to do.
Hope you find some good answers.
