Hidradenitis Suppurativa Support Group
Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. The disease manifests as clusters of chronic abscesses or boils, sometimes as large as baseballs, that are extremely painful to the touch and may persist for years with occasional to frequent periods of inflammation,...
It finally decided to start draining a bit today, but sitting is still not really an option for me.
As far as the pain, have you been able to see a doctor to get some pain meds? It's bad enough to be dealing with this in all it's stinky, nasty glory, but it makes it twice as bad to have to be in pain with it as well. I see you are 18, so I don't know if you are covered by parental insurance or if you have reached the age where you are no longer covered, but if you have any way to do so you need to see someone for relief. In this day and age it's not easy to find a doctor that is wiling to help in this area, but you need to try to find one. Are you taking any antibiotics for this? If not you might want to consider it, if you are able to, because you have an open wound,
and prone to a secondary infection.
I do hope you are able to find some relief, and soon. This disease is bad enough without the pain that comes with it. I'll keep you in my prayers and thoughts and will continue to hope that you can find a doctor that is willing to work with you to keep you out of so much discomfort.. If you are like me, and stuck without insurance, you might want to try to look and see if there are any local free clinics that work on a sliding scale and that see patients for free or super low cost. If nothing else they could at least get you on some meds that will make sure you don't wind up with a secondary infection.
Gentle hugs and hope you get to feeling better soon.
