the drainage

Hello everybody i have been having serious drainage in my buttocks just leaks like a waterfall and i just feel so depress and the pain hurts like hell.and i just cant take it no more like evrytime when i sit long periods of time it hurts like crip and i hate having this the wound in my buttocks is a size of a golfball and it just makes me want to cry somebody tell me what i should do.

Hi Matthew,

Have you tried cleaning the area and using Pantothen or another antibiotic medicine. Once you put the antibiotic medicine on use thin strips of gauze and put between your cheeks (use thin strips of gauze or it will be uncomfortable.) There are some large bandages that you can place over your butt crack that will give you a little extra padding and protection so that when you sit down it will not be as painful.

You will need to clean and repeat a few times throughout the day but it will defintely help the drainage.

Mrs.HS gave you some good information. When you need to clean yourself try an empsom salt bath. NexCare makes nice, comfortable, large water proof bandages. They help me, maybe they'll help you. Try to take some pain meds, call a friend or watch a movie. If it doesn't heal-see a doctor or wound care center.

Hi Matthew,

I saw your post and I thought I should reply. Maybe, your physican can refer you to a wound care physical therapist, their better than wound care nurses, in my opinion. I've seen both, and I like wound care physical therapists better. The wound care PT will treat your wound and keep it from setting up futher infection. The treatment will help reduce your drainage. However, the treatment can be paintul, so I recommend you take a pain pill, such as Tramadol, or whatever painkiller you take. They PT will put lidocaine on your wound for 10 minutes, so that will ease the pain as well. I've been seeing a wound care PT for awhile, and honestly it really does help.
