So I'm having the surgery in a few weeks on my left side and I have questions that maybe those of you who've had surgey can answer.
1. How bad was the pain after? From what I've heard it was terrible and its kind of freaking me out.
2. How long were you in the hospital? They say they want to keep me 5 days but I didn't believe that for a mintue.
3. How long does it take to heal? I was told 4 weeks by the sugeon.
4. How bad is the scaring? Am I not going to be able to wear booty shorts next summer? I'd probably wear them anyway and show off my battle scars...
5. Most important. How long before it came back if it did?

1) I will not sugar coat this at all, the pain was horrid after. I had a vac which was used to help me heal. I had to wear it for 2 weeks 24/7. After the vac came off the pain was a little better but it still kept me up all night and day I think the only reason I slept was because the pain killers they had me on were so strong they knocked me out.
2) I was only in the hospital for a day. They wanted me to stay longer but I couldn't handle being away from my daughter but as I look back on it I wish I would have stayed longer.
3) It honestly took me about 4 to 5 months to heal, I think it all depends on how bad it is when they get it. My surgeon said that he didn't think that mine was bad as it was until he went in. He said the tracks were so bad that they were leading to my heart. You could litterally put a softball inside both my armpits.
4) My scaring was really bad. But I don't let it prevent me from wearing a tank top or a sleeveless shirt out. If someone asks what happened I'm not ashamed to tell them what happened, it actually made me open up more and speak up about HS
5) It took about 6 months before I got another flare up, but it went to a new area. I have had 1 flare up under my arm since my surgery and that was 2 years after the suregery.
