Hidradenitis Suppurativa Support Group
Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. The disease manifests as clusters of chronic abscesses or boils, sometimes as large as baseballs, that are extremely painful to the touch and may persist for years with occasional to frequent periods of inflammation,...

I have had luck with tanning beds. There is the fear of skin cancer of course, but from everything I have read we are at risk anyway. I tried tanning beds about 15 years ago and noticed my "areas" had cleared up. (at that time I didn't know what I had, I was in the early stages and just thought it was acne) I tried again recently, as I am in late stage 2 to early stage 3. I am afflicted in my groin and butt area, and was in so much constant pain I figured I would give it a shot. I was going 2 to 3 times a week for about 12 minutes per session and during a 3 month span I had no major flares!! I had one abcess on my butt that had been active for over 2 years, would not heal over. It just stayed raw and open constantly and flared up every single month just before my menstrual cycle. That one actually scabbed over and healed!!
Sadly though, my car blew up and I had no way to continue my tanning, so now I have my old demons (and some new friends of theirs) coming to haunt me. I cannot wait to get going on it again!
Wishing you luck! :)
