Summer is quickly approaching. Things in Las Vegas are heating up. Day time temperatures over 90 already. My armpits and groin are heating up too. My doctor's staff sent me to a different doctor because he's to busy. I'm trying to get pre-op lab work all done for my plastic surgeon who is going to do my first HS surgeries. So I get that all done and have to wait again for new doc to finally send it to surgeon. Now the surgeon has all the paperwork he needs but is unable to give me a surgery date because he has been on vacation. I've called them 2 weeks in a row and they say they will call me back. Mean while my scripts for pain killers are being denied by my primary doctor because he has not seen me for awhile - BECAUSE HE WON'T GIVE ME AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE HE'S TOO FAR BEHIND!!!!! ummm..... excuse me. Anyway so now I call my insurance company and tell them my dilemma and ask if I could go to a quick care and possibly get pain killers or bactrum. "Oh you might look like your trying to doctor shop and get into serious trouble" they say. FRAK!!!!. Ok so I collect myself and ask my insurance company If I switch primary doctors right now will that set me back on everything that I have done up to this point to get ready for my HS surgery(that I can't get a date for either!). She said it might I really don't have an answer for that she says. ARGHHH!!!!! One day I'm getting off this HMO which must stand for H-ave no M-edical O-ptions. Any work for Health plan of Nevada? aaahhh I feel better thanks for listening. ;>)
we dont cheat at all...... it is too risky..... medical care in this country can be a real problem...... Sometimes the docs just dont get it.
Surgery is soooooooooooooooooooooooo risky for HS. I hope you have a good surgeon.....God bless, tangerinebear xo
This will be my first full summer gluten and grain free. I Started the diet towards the end of last summer. It's worth giving up certain foods to feel so much better.
I am a hotel engineer and spend my time in commercial kitchens fixing refrigeration, plumbing, steam pipes, stoves etc. Lot of gluten in those kitchens. As things have been getting hotter I have been getting flare ups too because I sweat more. I feel better this year than the previous 17 years or so. I have had HS for 24 years and have had hundreds of miserable flare ups that lasted for months on end. Before working in hotels I worked as an air conditioning tech. I spent all my time on roofs. I used to walk around with my hands on my hips to keep pressure off my pits and walked with a limp from flare ups from groin. My arm pits constantly draining for ten years. I had boils behind both ears the size of my thumbs. My back looks like the milky way. My waiste area and rear end has lots of craters too. Now the flare ups are much milder by comparison and only in armpits and sometimes groin. Get an occasional one on my kneck and back but don't bother me much their. My doctor and plastic surgeon says that there is so much damage tissue under my arms that if I don't have the surgery now It will be to risky when I get older. This will be my first summer gluten and practically grain free. I'm looking forward to seeing how much better I fare over last summer. Happy mothers day to all you Mom's out there!
As far as being in the kitchens of hotels you will always be tempted to cheat..... Look at it this way David, the gluten and grains are poison.
Maybe if you think of it that way you wont be so tempted to go over the edge....There is nothing easy about a major diet change and you have done so well for so long. Dont throw in the towel. Keep up the good fight.... As far as surgery the doctor is probably worried about cancer issues...... will pray for ya David, you are a sweet guy and to suffer so with HS is so sad..... rat's butt how the outcome is for the most part...that is how they pay their mortgages! I would be real, real careful for what I sign up for.
I had an orthopedic surgeon telling me 25 years ago I would be in a wheelchair in a few years when I was 30....well , guess what, i said I dont think so and did everything in my power to help myself...I am
not one for the surgeons knife! Yes, sometimes they save lives and sometimes the outcomes are a disaster. They put tons of older people into surgery and it is money in the bank and these people never get well. How do I know....?????? MY entire family are medical people..we know how they think and how they dont give a damn most of the time..... this is just my opinion..... Realize that we want the best for you and HS skin does not heal good..... and yes, it is diet, diet, diet...... sorry I am so negative about surgery but been around the medical corner formany many years...tangerinebear xo
On the surgery I couldn't tell you what to do, I know I have never had surgery, but it;s not for lack of need. Just can't afford it.
