Hidradenitis Suppurativa Support Group
Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. I hear you gals on the armpit jealousy..I can't even remember my pits without the HS now..sad..
And ichthamol has helped a couple of times...but god does it stink...I've smelled dead skunks that smelled better..lol
Boil ease don't do much for me..not sure why..
I'm with you gals in the armpit admiration society. Figure skaters make me want to get some of their DNA and splice it into mine for the pretty armpits....
I try to keep my daughter's spirits up and not allow her to be down about the situation. She's only 16 and I don't want her to grow up with complexes because of HS. She may have HS, but HS will not choke her quality of life, and will not triumph over her!
I also have been dealing with HS for almost 20 years, and I know the pain.
It's hard to deal with, but she is pressing forward, and keeping a positive outlook. No offense to you all who were talking about envying other people's "healthy looking" armpits (and I really mean NO OFFENSE), but I won't allow her to "envy" anyone who has healthy looking armpits, because that will turn into her being envious of someone's healthy looking breasts, or healthy looking thighs, because these are the places that she has scars. I don't want her to feel inferior or like less of a person because of HS. I want her to understand how beautiful she is and that this is something that is not her fault. I also want her to be confident in who she is as a human being. She still has a whole entire life ahead of her, and I will do my best to make sure she walks and lives with confidence and understands that God allowed this to happen for a reason. Even though we may not understand it right now, we will by and by.
She will be able to be a blessing to other people through her experience with HS and will be able to be anything that she wants to be in this life.
HS WILL NOT WIN!
So I encourage all of you to LIVE to the best of your ability. And know that if you allow HS to overtake you, it will.
