stomach upset

I was in terrible pain and couldn`t leave the house. Something got to give so i went on morphine 90mg a day for a week and a half. Then i read that a dutch dermotoligist had done a study on 500 hs patients and saw good results with 600mg clindamycin combined with 600mg rifampicin a day. So i took it whilst on morphine. Not a good idea. I was shitting water for days and force feed myself because i felt so full. I lost 14 pounds in 5 days. After 2 days of clindamycin and rifampacin i had to stop because i was puking it all out. My hs went deep underground and i can`t remember the last time i felt like this. I could wash and dry myself without pain I could ride my bike without a worry in the world, I couldn`t enjoy it though because i was so nauseus all the time. Now the hs is slowly returning but i still can`t enjoy food. So i don`t dare iake the pills again. I first have to feel that my stomach is ok before i dare try again.
Did any of you had such a strong reaction to those pills. When am i going to feel normal again it`s already been one and a half week. Is it also the withdrawl of the morphine? And the combination?
I hope i get some answers.

I can't speak to the side effects of the other two drugs but yes your symptoms are very consistent with morphine (opiate) withdrawal.

The first 72 hours should have been the worst depending on how dependent your body was and how long you used it, etc. After that it could take a week or two for them to totally subside. If it gets too bad you may want to see about a detox facility or maybe go to urgent care and let them know what is going on with you. There are some meds they can temporarily place you on to help alleviate the opiate dependency. Cold turkey is doable...its just rather rough. Good luck.

I'm sure the antibiotics aren't helping all that much. Some of them can cause you to feel bloated and full, but everything seems to run through you like sh*t through a goose.
I don't blame you for not wanting to take any more meds until your stomach feels better. I'm the same way. Why take the chance on possibly prolonging the suffering. We're already having enough grief as it is.
But like mixie, I think it could possibly be withdrawal from the morphine. For some it don't take much strong meds like that to get you there...and then some of us it takes longer to do that to us. Just the ole' what does one person one way, might not do the same to another, kinda thing.

If you've had a lot of diarrhea and vomiting, I'd recommend drinking some Pedialyte. Tastes kind of bad but it helps replenish electrolytes better than Gatorade. Dehydration can really mess you up-- I had to go to the ER for it one time and it was not fun.

Okay, this is my take on it; clyndamycin is a very harsh antibiotic, it can cause C diff bacteria in the colon to go crazy ( which causes extreme cramping and horrible diarrhea. it causes gastric upset like crazy...that drug my daughter can't tolerate by mouth...it is a very harsh drug...I do believe also that rifampicin causes extreme gastric upset with or without diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting...these 2 drugs together might help HS but can also put your gi tract into major trouble; I would NEVER allow the docs to give my duaghter this crap; NO WAY! As far as the morphine, I doubt very much you would become addicted to morphine so quickly....I think it would take 3 to 4 weeks of use before you became addicted to morphine. Most people that use it love the feeling it gives them...... and the addiction is when they have taken it for a while and want that feeling; then you get a physical and psychological dependence...I doubt you are addicted to morphine after a week of use. The rimpafin can make you damned near feel like you got the flu with muscle aches, mailaise and feeling crappy........I would definately get some major probiotics into your gut like acidophilus or perhaps culterelle to repopulate your gut with good bacteria.....Doctors push ANTIBIOTICS but it does not mean you wont have serious side effects with them.....Stay away from this treatment...sounds like you had a hell of a reaction and I dont think it was the morphine that caused this it was the antis from hell....... have you tried diet or naturopathic things to help your HS....antibiotics for the most part destroy the gut, lower the immune system and can give you a whole host of problems like resistance...When you need an antibiotic to work they wont if you are on them too much....... Good luck to you and I would be kind to your stomach and gut, bland foods, tons of yogurt, spearmint tea might relax your gut....am so sorry this has happened to you; get better, Tangerinebear xo

read this and do some more research for side effects. This drug can cause some major issues on its own!

Thank you all for the info {link}, advice and encouragement. I`m still not 100% but i`m getting there. I have bought yoghurt and mintthee. I think in the future i want to try it again but in a lower dose and when i feel my stomach is not agreeing i quit and call it a day. I want HS to go away it hurts so much,
