my bet is they won't lance it...they are there to dio, a reg of the mil doc will lance and it and he doesn't have to be responable if it gets infected, but eh who knows.

IMHO I would go to the er and get it lanced, just bring the paper work to the apt.

Absolutely refer him to this site! There are testimonials AND pictures on this site that will give him insight into our EVERYDAY living with HS! This site can offer how horrible it is to deal with the pain and embarassment of HS, among other things. Please DO refer him here.. and give me 5 minutes to bend his ear and I bet he will think you a saint for being able to deal with it as long as you have! LOL!

Thanks so much Rebecca and Nick! I will definately referr him to this site AND you Rebecca, your case of HS is so much worse than than I EVER thought mine could be! I just hope he is one who is willing to look a little further into things besides what sits there in front of him on his exam table. I'll have to hand copy everything but that is just fine. By the time I am done, if he don't have enough info to get a good start in helping me, then I think I may be seeking another GP. I didn't have to go get them lanced today, they burst on their own,but, I know tomorrow they will still be seeping and oozing so he will get a good look at part of what I deal with on a daily basis.
Rebecca you are a great person and I thank you daily that you continue to stay on this site despite the BS that does arise!!

Thank the lord I have a doctor willing to listen! Today was my first day with a GP in quite some time. I told her about the support site I am part of and begged her to please stop in and have a listen so that maybe she can help tailor a regimen for me to at least keep these bad guys at bay. I wrote down everything, all the websites and information I could write out for her. I was suprised when she asked if she could keep the information I gave her and asked again about the support site I frequent! She gave me a script for pain, one to keep me from being sick on my stomach from the pain meds, and Keflex, at least something I haven't had a bad reaction to. Of course I went and filled them all before heading home! I go back in two weeks unless the abcesses get big enough to be lanced. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying I got a doc that will listen instead of being condescending and judgmental. It's hard enough walking around feeling like a walking pus factory without having a medical provider that wants to belittle or berate you and make you feel even more so less than.
Thanks to all of you who have offered advice and I'll let you know what we're trying and what is effective, at least for me, and what just plain ain't cutting it.

Yay!! I am SO glad that she is indeed intersted in forming a plan with you! Now that you have a Team player on your side the fight against HS won't seem nearly as hard as it did when you were left blowing in the wind with no medical help!!
I hope everything that she offered up today helps you to start to feel better!!
Also while taking the Keflex, eat a cup of yogurt every day to keep the yeast away.. it will help you to keep from getting a vaginal yeast infection, and those are soo painful!

Went back to GP yesterday. Another round of antibiotics..sigh..this time Augmentin. The Keflex didn't hit on sh*t. One went down and almost away during the Keflex but the others didn't, one got worse and is really oozing like mad, the others are just laying in wait I guess..lol..Amazingly enough, she also wrote me another pain med scrip. It says 1 every 4 to 6 hours and is only the 5/500mg vicodin, so I'm only taking the pain meds when I can stand it no longer. Kinda silly to prescribe someone with this to take 1 vicodin every 4 to 6 hours, one don't cut it, so that's why I wait it out a bit and take 2 every 4 to 6 hours. I'm just thanking the Good Lord that I now have a doctor that isn't going to tell me "It's not that bad." or " Just suck it up and deal with it." Thanks again everyone.

Yay! I am so happy for you! It sounds like you have finally met someone who will be on your team and help you fight HS!! I am sooooo glad!! WTG! I hope you are able to get control of your flares/pain soon!

Thanks Rebecca! She wants me to come in in the next couple of day to do a full blood workup and a full screening for anything and everything that my insurance will allow. I forgot about it this morning and ate breakfast *oops*(fasting testing), but then again, when I finallly went to sleep last nite I was already well past being over 24 hours of sleep deprivation..lol..My 9 yr old son who has adhd, despite sleep meds, was up until 4:30 am the nite before and I went all day yesterday with no sleep, so I was doing REAL good to get my two kids up and ready for school this morning..lol
Matter of fact, between the lack of proper sleep and the pain meds..I'm doin good to be on the computer, much less typing. ;D
But IMHO, I can thank my good fortune to all of the people, on this site as well as friends of mine, who prayed for me to get a doctor willing to work with me and being a "partner" in my health care and not just a "dictator". I believe it was those prayers from others that helped me get where I am now..So again to everyone who kept me in their thoughts and prayers, both here and elsewhere, Thank you!

Oh I will. And I have a feeling she is going to put me through every test possible that my insurance will allow. She said I was going to do a LOT of testing. She wants to know where everything is at, levels and all. One of these days I will be awake enough one morning to remember not to eat so I can get the fasting part of the testing out of the way. I'm just sooo groggy and foggy when I get up of the morning, with or without the proper amount of sleep, that usually the first thing I do is stuff something in my face in an effort to keep myself awake..lol..
I will be asking her to test me for celiac just in case. I know that my grandmother and one aunt and her son have Crohn's. So I want to make sure I get tested anyways. My grandmother's didn't rear its ugly head until she was almost 35 but my aunt has had it since she was a kid, even had some of her intestines removed because of it and her son wound up having double hip replacement supposedly due to it going so long untreated, I don't know about all that, I would hate to think something like that could do that to a person, but I don't know that much about Crohn's so I can't truly say.
Now to go write the big "DONT EAT ANYTHING YET" sign to be posted on the fridge..lol..Thanks guys for all the support!
