You don't appear to be getting any replies here and I have never experienced what you are describing myself. It's Friday afternoon in L.A...an impossible time to get a hold of a Doctor....were I you, I'd play it safe and go to the ER.

I am no Doc but this sounds like an infection that should be treated pronto......get going. And let us know later how everything turned out and how you are..... Best Wishes and All Luck, Jean

I went to the docs and yes my infection has an infection!!! I'm on a new antibiotic now. doc says to take it for 3 months!!!!
I'm so tired of HS :(

Sounds like the tissue around the affected area is definately infected and could be turning into a nice big cellulitis...... better get to the doctor and not postpone treatment tangerinebear xo

Dear Really....I am oh so glad that you had the infection looked at and taken care of...these things can turn dangerous and become systemic very quickly. It was smart of you to pick up on it.

On the other hand, I'm very sorry you must endure all of this suffering.
I feel terrible for you and yes, it gets very wearying to constantly have to deal with illness......Get plenty of rest over what's left of the weekend..sleep is healing and sure lets us forget things, if only for awhile.

But I fear I may be headed back to the ER. The pain in my arm is becoming more unbearable and now it's moved into my back as well. Which is weird because the actual HS spot isn't hurting at all come to think of it, it isn't draining either. The first time in 6 months.
could it be draining into my arm???

I don't know the answer. But the pain is telling you something. Pain always does. It is odd but true that pain is not necessarily felt at the exact site of any problem but can be "referred" someplace else. When I had ulcers, you would have thougt the pain would be in my stomach..it wasn't it was "referred pain" to my back.

Again, I advise you to have this checked asap by a Doctor. If that means time in the ER, so be it. Don't ever wait for this kind of thing to get worse.

Yes, Ive had these issues & just like most everyone is saying, dont wait. Go to the ER... the first couple of times I waited and the drs explained that with infections its not great to wait because they can spread fast and get into your blood. I am currently in the hospital with a couple different issues, one being Cellulitis that I caught in my HS spots that I had surgery one last month. It was one of the most painful feelings ever and the "wounds" themselves dont even hurt is the skin around them. But I have also had them in the crease of my armpit and when they had gotten infected it hurt from the back of my shoulder down to my elbow and I could barely lift or move my are at all. So it means the infection is spreading and the wound itself may need debridement. With some heavy IV anti-biotics.. But sorry you are going through all of this and I hope some of my input helped! I am sorry to hear you in the hospital. I hope things are coming along for you. How long have you been in there and when are you expected to be able to leave?

Brose that's exactly what was going on with me! The pain was in my shoulder and ran down my arm to my elbow. I did go to the E.R. and they opened the little bugger back up and it started draining again and the pain immediately left my shoulder. There is a little pain in my arm still but not much. I am on doxycycline (sp) for 3 months so ther E.R. Doc said to just continue with that.
