What the hell kinda comment is that??!!
This kind of stuff just burns me up! They act like EVERY person who has EVER taken a narcotic pain medication is some sort of screwed up junkie.
I guess the DEA knows better than my doctor now. Guess I need to carry my behind to the nearest DEA office and ask for a medical appointment. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that all this is just an effort to get those of us in chronic pain to finally "check out"..less disability checks to send out every month (again getting to keep money WE paid into the system should something happen to us)..less medical expenses to cover (again money WE paid into the system to cover). People who abuse prescription medications will continue to find a way to get their "fix"..punishing those of us who truly need them to function and continue to care for and provide for our families is NOT the answer...but then again it is always the "little people" who get screwed. Bet no one in any of these agencies or their families or in government are going to have to go through any of these hardships...they never do.

I understand the need for regulation..but to the point that it makes folks who are in true need have to suffer..I have serious issues with that. Especially considering like I said..I'm sure no one in those agencies or in government will have to sit idly by and suffer or watch one of their own suffer. What's good for the goose is good for the gander..as my great grandmother used to say.
It's already hard enough here in NC to get them when you need them..hell it took me like 7 years of "testing" doctors before I found one that gave a damn enough to go "You DO need this medicine", and if I happen to screw up, she has no problem going "You did it to yourself" and cutting me off. Not that she would have any reason to. I'm supposed to take them to manage the pain of HS, but I only take them when I can stand it no longer. There is a certain level of grief and pain I can deal with, but when it gets to a certain point..I'm ready to tear the sockets out of the walls.
Again I'm truly sorry to hear about your mom, and about your dad becoming hooked on pain meds. But there is a difference between being addicted...and being dependent upon a medication to have some sort of quality of life.
If I was not allowed at least SOME pain meds I don't know that I would be able to continue to work and care for my family as well as I have.
