My doc gives me 30 500mg Vicodins a month. Before I had surgery I was on Percocet almost every day and went to the ER multiple times for IV morphine. The Vicodins don't completly take all the pain away, but it helps me live when I have a bad flare up. Unfortunately my tolerance for narcotic meds is really high since I have taken so many that I can go through all 30 in 3 or 4 days. I hope that you feel better soon and that the darn thing breaks open...those are the worst! Have you tried sleeping with a warm compress? I put them in between my legs and they stay warm from body heat. It can be a pain to wake up with wet sheets, but I think the moistness(not sure if thats a word!) helps to soften the cyst and with the heats help break it open sooner.

When i go to the ER they give a me a dilaudid shot and also numb before I will even let them touch me. And I recently went to a pain specialist and I am on NORCO. I am allowed to take 2 pills a day as needed usually I take them at night because the ones on my back and sides are too bad I can't sleep. Just curious do you soak in super hot tub when your are getting relly big?? Sometimes if I stay in the water till I prune and the water is cool. Then it never fails a majority of mine either start to drain or the swelling seems to lessen. I have learned though not to take a bath before I go anywhere out in public I will only shower bc I get to nervous about them breaking while I am around people. If you primary care won't assist with pain there are specialists out there who can help you manage it a little better

My son takes methadone and percocet. Has been for about a year. Before that it was T3, then vicodin, then percocet, then dilaudid and fentenyl patches. He's had surgury (21 times in the last 24 months). When he comes home (maybe tomorrow) from his 18th stay in the hospital in the last 2 years, he will be weaning off the narcotics. Nearly all the HS has now been cut out. Let's hope it stays gone! Good luck finding pain relief. A couple of things about narcotics, the more you take, the more you need due to tolerance, and they are extremely constipating - something you don't need to add to the HS problems.

I finally got a doctor to prescribe me 60 5/325mg Percocet. Before that it was multiple trips to the ER for lancing and draining/packing pain meds (vicodin or percocet) and antibiotics. 60 Seems like a lot, but in reality I have days of having to choose between suffering a little while longer, or take some, get some relief, and hope and pray that I don't have too many more "bad days". I usually do the super hot bath as much as I can. The worst right now is the rash from all the oozing.

If you cant sleep, which I truly understand ask your Dr. if you can try Klonopin 2mg, when I have a flare up I use my pain meds and Klonopin to help with the TENSEING up and gritting my teeth from the pain which I know you understand........ Good Luck!!!!!!

Mammax, you nailed it on the head! I try to take as few pains meds as I possibly can simply because they do stop me from going to the bathroom.

The only time I've had pain meds for HS is this week since they made the 3 incisions, and when I was first diagnosed. I'm only take the vicoden prescribed this week when i'm near tears.

Nothing worse than having to sit on the potty with a baseball sized flare up on your inner thigh. Think constipation is bad? That potty seat is just horrible! lol.

i have been taking oxycontin for 6 yrs now through the pain clinic at the hosp and still have alot of issues with pain

I got diagnosed with hidradenitis two year ago and i been trying for three years to find a doctor that would help me manage the pain they always tell me because of my age there's nothing they really can do to help me it's getting very hard to live with the pain on top of chronic pain from surgeries i wish everyone with this condition get better soon

I am prescribed Tramadol for pain. I also use Lidocaine patches, but if the lesion is open I can't use them... A few times a year I get a few Norco (10mg/325mg).

I am allergic to almost all pain medications so I rely on ibuprofen and it helps a lot. Usually within about hour or so I'm pain free and am pain free until the following day or longer. I take 800mg

I had been given opiates for pain in the past, yes a painkiller that is limited because of over prescription by doctors and overdose usage by non- needers. Now with that said we are basically treated like children, we know that some days are far worse than others and I know my doctor did not have HS so how would they know the burning, itching and pain I go through. I am fortunate enough to live in a state where medical marijuana is legal and now for recreational use as well, IT DOES NOT STOP THIS DISEASE although it helps with the itching and some of the pain. I hope you find help I would not wish this on my worst enemy!
