Good morning Its been one full week since my surgery (2/23/12) and I feel great!! I had what the doctor described as an excision of the left auxiliary hidradenitis and left latissumus flap. Basically my whole armpit was removed and replaced with skin from my back. My scar goes from my armpit to just above my waist. The surgery was over 5 hours and I only spent one night in the hospital. I left with 2 drains. The drains had to be emptied 3 times per day and measured. One drain was removed on Monday (4 days after surgery) the other drain will be removed this Monday (11 days after surgery). My wife has been doing the drains and a nurse comes to the house every other day to check on me. I was able to shower 2 days after surgery. I have full feeling in my hands. I plan on doing my right side over the summer. I have ABSOLUTELY NO FEAR doing my right side. If you have any question please feel free to ask me..

I had the same great experience after surgery on my left armpit. That was ten years ago! Unfortunately my recent surgery wasn't as successful. I hope to one day get a doctor that can give me good results like the first one. Good luck with your recovery.
