It helps with all sorts of other stress related diseases so why not HS I suppose - roll that joint!

I'm not sure if the prospect of arrest is going to lower my stress level, lol, but this might make plenty of sense since some compounds in cannabis may have some ability to act as an anti-toxin to the most obvious sort of microbial toxin that might make HS unpleasant and persistent.

Technically Vitamin D in some ways might turn out to be even better at this task, but that may be rather irrelevant if HS bacteria are going to deploy additional toxins that may keep even Vit D from having a more curative effect on HS.

Cannabis of course can have some obvious side-effects, but it would probably also have some obvious advantages of pain relief, incredibly low toxicity, and at least in some states or countries, increased availability.

@KaylaB86, my only tips would be to take it slow if you're smoking as opposed to other methods, it's really easy to creep up on you that way for first timers. And as he put it, you'll want food and drink. But, if it's legal where you are, you could check into edibles. There are even drinks that I hear are pretty good.

It is legal here in Washington State. I would recommend something like a RSO or salve. Much less likely to feel so high all the time.

I'm a pot smoker (responsibly, at home only, in a legal city). I decided recently to take a month off from both weed and alcohol, and am on day nine. Almost immediately, I had a flair up. I've been off and on with weed since I was a teenager, but I started smoking pretty consistently in March, right after my last flair up. I haven't spoken with a doctor about it, but it doesn't seem like a coincidence that nothing happened while I was actively smoking every day, and then I drop it and boom, break out.

I started smoking weed on a suggestion from my cousin to deal with the pain and I never looked back lol. It's probably just in my head, but I feel that I have to smoke to stop the pain now.

Emily.. I smoke every single day in the evening when I am home from work on my couch...and that is the only time in the whole day that I am able to relax even a little. Even though it doesn't make them go away it helps me to temporarily forget about how miserable I am every single second of the day.. this is such a terrible condition.. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.. Im with you girl! I wont ever stop smoking pot.

If smoking pot helps with the pain I'm all for it. It helps so many people. I've thought about it.

I don't smoke anymore but I didn't notice any affect on flares when I did. They seemed to come and go regardless. That said smoking anything is going to release more toxins than usual in your sweat, so it could be worth vaping which is healthier anyway. Some strains are great for pain, if you have multiple strains to pick from you could check out a ranking site (like "leafly") for the top scoring for pain management. It's a cool site.

marijuana has helped me and my flare ups a lot. Even if it's just a change in outlook and emotion, that's a big difference when it comes to dealing with my HS. Usually when I get flare ups my mind just starts to race and I get super anxious about anything, weed counters that a lot a let's me relax even if my body is in pain. I've also had some strains that help with the pain too, I'd look into some indica or high CBD strains for pain.

I have been smoking on and off for years. I have found that is helps with the pain. What I am doing now is trying to find stands that help with the full condition, not just the pain aspect. Thank you all for your comments. It has been a real help to me. I feel so alone most times, when it comes to this.
