just curious if anyone has tried consulting with a naturopathic doctor and what the outcome has been? my friend went to one for a skin rash that regular dermatologists did nothing for, and it cleared up right away after the naturopath identified some food allergies and gave him some herbs and supplements.

Good question. I have been wondering this myself. I have been trying to save up money to go to the only one in my area because of course insurance does not pay for it. Id be interested to find out if anyone has already tried that route.

I highly recommend a naturopathic, chinese herbalist or ayurevedic practitioners. They seem to understand that true healing comes from the inside out and is not as simple as a pharmaceutical remedy. This is where Western traditional medicine fails us as they really just don't have the knowledge to properly treat HS.

I got very sick about 4 years ago and went to a line-up of specialists and nobody could figure out the cause. Finally, my boss suggested his naturopathist. She diagnosed me with mono the 1st day she saw me & started me on a regimen. Within a few weeks, I was much better. After about 2 months, my drs finally came up with a diagnosis - mono. Interestingly enough, my HS started shortly after the mono subsided (not sure if its related), but once again every dr I've gone to is clueless. So I'm starting with the naturopathist again next week. Hopefully she can help me get this thing under control. I will definitely let everyone know how it goes.

I have been to a naturopathic or herbalist in Rosebud Arkansas. It was before I knew what my HS was. He helped me with other things so I am planning to go back as soon as I can to see if he can help with HS. I really think he will be able to! I recommend giving it a try!

Just wanted to follow up - I'm about 2 1/2 weeks into treatments from my naturopathist & it's really helping. She believes this is an auto-immune hypersensitivity and that hormones & stress & food intolerances are all triggers. She has me on lymph cleanse and a microphage detox. I'm also taking probiotics and changed my diet dramatically. No dairy, no corn sugar, no cane sugar & no food colorings. So far, I'm feeling much better & the boils have decreased in number. I haven't had any new ones (knock on wood) & the old ones appear to be healing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this works & keeps working.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
