my response to this post is old. I am totally for this now. My HS has progressed to a point of such pain....causing me such worry. That a little weed helps me and helps me sleep sometimes.

I live in the state of Ga where it isnt legal either BUT Marijuana has been the ONLY thing that allows me to sleep, eat, go to work, cook dinner, play with my kids(sometime if the pain isnt too bad). I know many people may think its bad buts its not.. I think its better then all that other crap they give us for pain.. By the way if anyone has RA u cann tk some marijuana inside of green rubbing alcohol & rub it on yoyr joints.. It works really well.. It works for me....

As of now I am not yet a medical marijuana patient but am on my way. I have retrieved my medical records and am planning on making an appointment around the 1st of Feb 2011. I will let everyone know how things go.

Unlike alcohol and other illegal drugs...there really is no adverse side effects to marijuana other than the damage to your lungs from smoking. It will also make you lazy and rob you of your ambition if you smoke too much.

However I am at a stage in my life where all I am doing is working and paying child support and taking care of my own needs like shelter and medicine. Going back to school or anything like that is not really on the table for me right now so i figure why not smoke a little.

It will give you your appetite back and when I smoke I seem to find pleasure in everything from cleaning to playing with my kids and everything. Its a welcome respite from all the doom and gloom and pain all the time. It also helps me sleep.

I think medical marijuana is beneficial to those of us with HS.

Glad to live in california for that reason only!!! everyday user.

I personaly found relief with marijuana for my HS but have had to quit for job reasons. I will say that if you use it in moderation, it can help with both pain and depression, if you have a tendency to use it too much, it can make your depression worse. So if you can use it in moderation and not overindulge, it works, if not, it is best to not go down that path since for me, it was hard not to overuse it.

Also if you choose to smoke, invest in a vaporizer so that you get the full benefits of inhaling the mariguana without ruining your lungs and putting yourself at risk for lung cancer. Some people eat it, but it doesn't work the same in my opinion so a vaporizer is really the best option.

Thanks for those tips...now I can ingest marijuana is more healthy ways as long as I don't use it too often.

I go to the doctor tomarrow to retreive updated medical records and talk to my doctor about medical marijuana. some clinics have certain policies so I don't know if he can write a recommendation but if not I can still get records of my chronic pain. The pain management clinic I am looking at needs three doc notes to get a recommendation and costs 100 dollars. Its intresting to note that my medical records dont say anything about HS, just recurrant boils and pain. Even though the doctor I have been seeing there for 3 yrs now identifies it by name. What the heck? So tomarrow I'm going in there and demand they put the name in my records along with chronic pain. Wish me luck peeps.

Went to my doc appointment today and he is referring me to a medical marijuana clinic for pain management woohoo!
Now I will be able to go off any meds I am taking for pain as they don't do much anyway. I go back to my doc on wednesday to collect today's documents for the pain management clinic, then its on! Will update later.

Thank you for writing this.....I've been feeling like I'm loosing hope. i live in BC, home of the best MJ they say :) we have a clinic called the "compassion society" - I think ill ask my doctor for that, since they don't know what else to do. Then maybe I won't feel like I have no control, need to leave my job when I won't beable to afford it and loose my condo and car.......god this disease is awful and it upsets me that doctors are not doing anything!
The funny thing is my supervisor said stats show that there are usually 2 ppl in an office that smoke pot.....he glaced around trying to figure out who. I said well there are 2 ppl here with Crohns (me and another) and we are legally allowed to smoke it....so there's your 2 hahaha

Those of us with HS have personal image issues and most of us deal with constant pain and other things like odor/drainage issues on a constant basis. None of us know how we are going to feel when we wake up so making plans is almost always out of the question.

Marijuana helps me....especially those times where it all just seems like its too much to handle.

Marijuana puts me in a wonderful mood and helps me get good quality sleep.

It really helps me.....a sufferer of HS.
