it has come back the surgery arm was all healed up now its come back a wound is very little on the side of my arm and its annoying i feel so bad

I'm sorry it came back. I've had surgery on both sides of my groin and it came back also. I completely understand how devastating it is.

Sorry to hear that. This is one of the reasons why I don't even want to consider surgery. Seems like you have to go through the hell of surgery and then more often than not the HS comes back :(

That depends on the surgery you have. If you just have skin excised and then it heals you still have skin with this infection in it. The disease itself never goes away unless you can remove sweat glands and hair bearing skin. A derm and your plastics surgeon should have told you that. The recurrence rate for HS with just excision is like 80%.

You want complete remission you have to get rid of the sweat glands and hair bearing skin. That surgery is a lot more complicated and time consuming.

@ariesgurl, and me have the same mind set on surgery. I really feel for the people who went through surgery and the healing they had to go through on for this to come back. Going into surgery you'd really think that your going to get better and it will all be worth it, for it to come back is just unimaginable!

I only think I'd even consider surgery if I was getting to the point where HS started to disabled me or my daily life. I still live a normal life... just with a lot of hidden pain and tears :(

The worst of my HS is my right armpit and just this month or so my left armpit it starting. It's so crazy to think that my good armpit is going to turn into the war zone that is my right armpit. I can't even imagine the pain HS has caused me with my right arm and to know that my left arm is starting up... is enough to make me puke just thinking about it.

Have you tried turmeric, when I'm not taking turmeric I feel so stupid because it makes me feel so good and almost forget about HS... but I can't stand the taste or smell of it!

I really pray for a cure so many times a day it's funny!

I am so sorry it came back. What kind of surgery did you have. Simple excision does not usually cut it. Like Lilly said, you have to remove all the sweat glands and hair bearing skin and anything with a sinus tract or tunneling. Please let us know what kind of surgery you had. Will keep you in my prayers for relief from your HS.
