Wow...thank you for sharing. Horribly painful no doubt. We so need public awareness for this condition. No one has ever heard of HS, unless the know it.

THANKFULLY, mine's not under my arm or on my head or face like the cases I've seen on TV. I am BLESSED to not have it as bad as the ones I've seen. I am GREATFUL that mine do heal. But I am finding it a little too personal to put my "Embarrassing Body" out there. It is still a little too private...

OMG!! can you beleive the Dr's let it get this far???? I cant believe something like that was allowed to continue to that level. I think they should have helped waaaaaay before now!! I feel so terrible that he has to suffer like that.

The poor guy's skin is literally falling off of him. His physician should be ashamed. It the infection had made its way into the guys muscle/bone/blood stream, he would have easily become septic and died.

Sidenote: I really want those bandages he uses!

But yes absolutly he should have never been allowed to get this bad. I cannot imagine how they had not surgically taken care of that bc he can get really really sick. It seems inhumane to have let this continue

I called my doc few days ago about HS, and all she said is "take antibiotics". WTF? Do they know anything else other than the word "Antibiotic"?

I am truly blessed I don't have severe HS like that guy. Mine is stage 1 sometimes mild stage 2.

I am on antibiotics right now. My draining sites were cultured and that's the premise of my antibiotic regimen. They are helping a lot. I very noticeable decrease in inflammation and that nasty smell is virtually gone, so the bacteria is definitely being killed. I am going to be starting accutane (again) soon. I believe it was of no help before because my previous derm never cultured any of my sites....but I am not holding my breath! It is HS that I am talking about lol

Accutane did help me the first time. I just hate that every drug makes you worse before better. Because then if the better part never comes then I am just plum disappointed that I have become worse. It just plain stinks

please tell me that's not what I have to look forward to...please please please please please no

adizzle09, not necissarily (ok I'ma gonna make sum mistakes, been up for more than 24 hrs, not good, but ya do what ya gotta..lol)
Some people go no further than Stage 1, others make it to stage 2 and no higher, some of us make it to Stage 3 but very slowly, and others blast past 1 & 2 like they arn't even there. Everyone is different and everyone's bodies react differently to HS.

video: Good grief! That guys GP should be spanked for letting him get this bad! I wish I had his bandages too, they look awesome, a lot better than gauze and paper tape.

mllepoulet- I hear ya (on hopping over the pond) I swear I live in an area where a decent specalist should be able to be found, but it's like looking for hen's teeth!

Adizzle, i've had it for 20 years and I'm about stage 2, they blasted me with Clindomycin and Keflex and it seemed to slow it down alot at the time. I now only get bad ones once in a while, and they are very mild compared to the video. That poor guy, don't know if I could take that, it looks so painful, hopefully he is much better now that he has someone that's knowledgable and is treating it for him. Try to stay positive and stress free, you might be where your at now without it ever advancing to the next stage and your young, maybe a cure down the road.

thanks, ShannonA &ih8hs. I guess I can just hope mine doesn't progress..and for a cure..and treat it the best I know how. It seems like patients who have taken many antibiotics...like their hs actually progresses or gets worse..that sounds backwards. *confused face* anyways...it sounds dumb...but i'd rather die younger before my hs got to stage 3. i feel horrible for saying that..especially on here..but i really do feel that way right now. i can't take that. my pain tolerance has increased..but i'm such a baby in that area.
