I tried numeric for three months. In the beginning I had breakouts in new places while taking it, and it just got worse. I stopped taking it. I started using diaper rash ointment. I find that it helps soothe the pain and keeps from chafing. Don't let it get you down you have to find what works for you. Trial and Errors.

I did notice more breakouts around the time i started.. I never connected it to the turmeric though. (too many other factors going on..)

I do feel like it helps me.. I take two 500mg pills (with the black pepper in it) of turmeric a day, after I eat. I also make the paste and apply that. I get a lot of relief from the paste..

I was actually just coming on the site wondering if any one takes more than 1000mg a day? I want to take more pills - maybe up it to 1500mg (1pill with each meal?)

Don't be discouraged, it takes almost 3 months for your body to begin to show the benefits of internal use. Then expect to up your dose about 8 months after that, because your body will become used to it. Good luck!

I take 1500 mg a day with no probs. In fact, the directions on the bottle (Nature's Way) says to take 3 tablets a day. Each are 500 mg. I don't think it has black pepper in it, but I eat enough of that already. Started w/500 for 2 wks, then upped it to 1000 for another 2 wk, then up to 1500. Also take 500 zinc daily. Doc said doses were fine if no tummy problems come up. Maybe not related, but I do notice I'm more "gassy" than usual, but I'll gladly keep tooting since I.ve noticed an improvement. No new breakouts and only mild flareups in existing areas. Been on it for about 5wks.

Favabean, I hope you did not mean you take 500 mg of zinc....You will be toxic in no time.....Zinc is a mineral and one should not take any more than 30 mg a day........ the tumeric also can cause side effects, gi issues, petechiae ( busted blood vessels) it thins your blood so be VERY CAREFUL with both of these..... My daughter takes 30 mg of zinc... she does not take tumeric...... did not help!

anyone experience any stomach problems? I've been taking turmeric powder in water for the last few weeks and all of a sudden yesterday I developed a stomach ache. I wonder if turmeric is the cause???

Yes, when I started the turmeric, I got a few smaller break outs. I noticed that they came on and broke quicker. Once I had been on it for about 10 weeks, I began to not get them. Now that I have been on 1000mg for about 14 months, my body has adjusted and I just raised my dose to 1500mg. Have had a terrible flare and am on the down slide of that I hope.

I've had HS for over 20 years. & I'm at stage 4 of this disease. The DR's have tried everything. I came across and article regarding Turmeric & HS, so I decided to try it. I have been taking turmeric supplements 450mg 1x daily for HS for almost 5 days now, and let me say for me IT IS THE BEST TREATMENT I'VE EVER TRIED! Seriously, Days before starting this supplement I literally had about 17-18 boils, in numerous places from the armpits, under the breast area, the groin area, ect.. I had one under my right arm for seriously 4 months that would not go away, it would itch like it was healing, but it just kept growing More tracks... To make a long story short, I am down to only having 5 boils and the one under my arm is going away!!!!!! Also the dark purple spots from previous bumps are lightening up. I studied up on Turmeric prior to taking it, and Herbal experts recommend the turmeric supplement be 95% Curcuma Longa (Root) with no added wheat, yeast, milk, lactose,sugar, ect..
