im a 20 girl and have had HS for about 6 years now, and am going into surgery soon.my surgeon is going to cut me on the top and both sides of my groin area, buttocks, and between my breasts. he said i will be able to go back to work 5 days post- op,i work 12 hour days in a nursing facility and walk 100% of the time, lifting patients and all other types of care. does this sound way off to anyone. 5 days to heal and be back at work? so my biggest concern is ive never had surgery EVER.... and really dont know what to expect. im not getting alot of feedback from my surgeon either. HELP!!!!

I have been off for the past 2 weeks this will make week 3. I don't know what your doctor is talking about with 5 days. That's just not possible, not with the type of work you do.

It probably depends on the surgury. But, my son had surgery in both armpits and down one side on April 3. He didn't even get out of the hospital until May 15! He had radical excision of all the tissue in those areas with large skin grafts. If you are having that type of surgery, 5 days is surely not enough.

they are planning on taking all the tissue also and he said hes going to try not to do any skin graphs. which will be nice. best of luck to your son. :)

I'm new to the site but not with HS. I have had HS for 6-7 years and recently looked into surgery...... The plastic surgeon wants to do 3 surgeries w/ at least 6 wks recovery after each one to become 100%. I am also in a fast pace work environment!!!!! Hope it helps!!

i am now 4 days post surgery and there is no way i can return to work anytime soon. far too pain full.
