I have officially been diagnosed with hs after oh gosh 14 years and the doc gave me doxycycline(if I spelled it right). Has anyone used that?

I have used doxycycline..It pretty much only kept it at bay for me..But after a while it stopped working completely.I hope you have better luck with it than I did.

Hi nikkitaw - Honestly, doxycycline was one of the first of many antibiotics that was prescribed to us after my daughter was diagnosed. After that came about six other antibiotics and combinations thereof. As Jfish says below, it seemed to help a little, but very little and not for long. Truly, I don't think antibiotics are the answer to HS (unless you have concurring infections). Long term, the only drugs I've seen that help are the biologics. That's because, I believe, HS is not a "skin condition" per se, but an autoimmune disease. And do not fall for Accutane, either. Definitely a no, in my book. My daughter has been taking a Humira/methotrexate combination for a little over a month and it's almost been miraculous. She's so much improved. No leakage, no new outbreaks, no pain, no side effects. And while not necessarily "healing", her wounds are so much less angry. Good luck on your journey and blessings to you.

I went on doxycycline for over a year it did nothing then minocycline same hear it did nothing.
