Hi gang,
My daughter always seems to flare before her menses ( a week before and during) .....Does taking birthcontrol help with this? I always know every month we will have a harder time around that time of the month which is now for her...... It sure is tough to be young lady with this stuff. Seems like mother nature is mean ! any ideas?

My Gynecologist told me he has had luck with putting people on Birth Control and having it help HS. While I myself can't go on it, it's worth a shot. I remember it used to flare before my menses too. A week before definetly, and also during...you may want to look into that, it's worth a try.

Whin I was on birthcontrol it seemed to keep it at bay and since the side effects of the birh control startied to become to much I was getting super hypothyroidism symptoms like being cold all the time extreme hair loss and many more sand since I have been off of them it did seem like it went ino overdrive my symptoms got worse no joke 300% but I am older 35 aqnd that also seems like a catalyst because This truly makes me feel hormones play a HUGE part on this disease. HOPE THIS WAS HELPFUL.

Thanks Ladies for the comments. Dont really want side effects of BC pills, Elisa is already on plenty of meds due to asthma, allergies, and now HS. I think Iwill up her zinc and see if that helps it. All the antibiotics do for HS is give her rip roaring yeast infections..... She tried doxycycline for a while and it gave her horrible diarrhea. So we will just do the best we can and hope that she doesnt get too bad right before the menses. and during...tangerinebear xo

any time you get a round of antibiotics get fluconazle its a pill to clear up yeast infections I stocked up since I have no insurance and any time you start a round of antibiotiics within the first 2 days and usually it will prevent any yeast infections my docs never had a prob since i been on antibiotics pretty much mostly on for 15 yrs so dont be afraid to ask for it its way less invasive than anything you get over the counter and works way better 1 pill to keep that away is worth it esp if you are like me with lesions on my groin and pubic area bad yeasts infections literally seems to eat away my skin tissue. Hope this helps.

I would recommend asking about ortho tricyclene. It is an ance aid and birth control I helped my skin dry up and allieviate some acne issues. I would just ask. it is a weak doseage and I had no issues as far as side effects. Hope this helps.
