Thanks for posting the link. I checked it out when The Doctors website put it up on their site. I tried to leave a comment about it, to say that I didn't appreciate how they depicted the disease as Severe Armpit Acne. I think I heard them say the name one time.

I've had a couple lanced in the ER that were on the back of my legs when I just couldn't stand the pain anymore. I wouldn't have done it, but I was dieing and my roommate made me go.
If they get that bad now (I live alone), I just deal with them myself. Heating pad/hot compress & a needle when it's ready.

At least this made the national media. I didn't see it, but I hope they swabbed that gal's pit with some lidocaine before they gave the numbing injections.

Like most of us, I just deal with this on my own. I can't afford to run to doc ever 15 minutes to get lanced. I just use a needle which I sterilize before use and some sterile surgical gloves. I'm not brave enough to use a scalpel on myself. I think it would hurt without numbing meds

The sore that woman had drained in the video I would not do. It doesn't look "ripe" yet. I find if I open them too soon I get very little results. It's like the core is still too deep. Then you have a hole sitting around waiting for more infection to enter into.

Thank you for the post. At least the HS name did get out there, she knew the condition, the older doctor had no clue, I think.

yea a friend at work told me about this episode and said to me that I need to go to the doctor and ask about the treatment that was talked about at the end of the show, I guess I missed that part, they didn't begin to even touch on the subject of HS...I was very disappointed.

A friend told me about it a few weeks after it aired. I googled it and was thoroughly disappointed at how unhelpful it was. In addition, they didn't even mention(If they even noticed) that that girl was obviously in the very early stages of HS. My armpits make hers look like a newborn baby's behind!

I didn't apprciate the 'armpit acne' reference either. Did they not research the fact that this disease isn't confined to the armpit area?! And I would hardly call lancing a treatment. Oh well, unfortunately as in so many cases, HS is a disease where the patients know more that the so-called professionals. Take Care Everyone!

I'm just happy they put it on the air. Dr. Oz won't do a show on the condition at all, and ignores the request for it. Try it, send him an email he won't even respond too it. Did you see the audience response to HS everybody was breath taken, they were sad and thought "how awful" at least it causesd some awareness. Little by little you know. But I think most the time hs does start in the armpits then it spreads.

Does anybody know the date it aired?
