Hi, for those of you that have tried laser hair removal. I have heard a lot of success stories now. I saw a dermatologist two weeks ago (it was not a positive experience, he shot down everything I said about HS). When I mentioned laser hair removal his response was "not related." I was actually hoping to get some of it covered by insurance as it would be for a health reason not an aesthetic reason, but I'm not hopeful because of his reaction. Anyone have the treatment and had it covered? If so how did you go about it?
I am also wondering, did you flare ups have to clear up before getting it done? Currently I have two small holes in my armpit. No leakage, the bumps have shrunk significantly in size after changing my diet. But there are two holes that have never healed or closed up. Wondering if these need to be gone before getting something like laser hair removal done.

It was my consultant who suggested I start laser treatment and I had to see a different Dr to confirm my eligibility. My disease is very active and I currently have multiple open wounds that leak and this hasn't been a problem. It can be painful when the laser is close to an open sore but so much of my area is open that it's hard to avoid. However, I am able to complete a session with the help of a little ice. I haven't noticed an improvement regarding the HS but the area is easier to manage and dress.
