I have performed self-surgery on mine since the time I was in middle school. I would apply benzocaine or ice to numb them, then lance them with a razor blade, poke around a little bit to get all the gunk out, pack them with gauze and antibiotic cream and tape them shut. I started doing this when I was like 11 years old. My own kids are older than that now ad when I think about them using a blade on their skin I am HORRIFIED, but it worked fine for me!
