I have this major constant fear that I may develop herpes or warts and I won't be able to tell the difference between HS and a STD.... I know it sounds silly and I have seen the pics online and talked to my gyno. Does anyone else ever feel this way? Is this a fear for any of you too? I don't know why it bothers me but it does..

No, I do not have that fear whatsoever. Why? because I am in a monogamous relationship. You can only develop herpes or warts if you're not being cautious. Not making assumptions, but the only way one would have that kind of fear is if she/he is sleeping around or if their partner is. If you are in a relationship and you fear this, then you need to have a talk with your partner and definitely get tested.

Btw, I posted a picture of each (graphic). They do not look alike at all. The HS looks like scarred tissue, the others don't.

Lol thanks! I know I have HS, and that my Dr said I don't have either of the two STIs..... I think its just my HS focuses more on my groin then everywhere else it bothers me and freaks me out. I definitely don't have what those two pictures look like lol. Thanks again

That's awesome your in a monogamous relationship...w/ that being said ppl even in committed relationships have carelessly exposed their cautious partners to stds. I fortunately have not had to deal with that but I can relate to feeling at times my hs could have been more then just hs and have been tested for stds. It really is difficult... I think having it in that area of the body. Much Love too u:)

I don't have this fear now, but I used to. Before I was diagnosed with HS. The really weird thing is that I wasn't sexually active at all, yet my brain kept freaking out over the idea it could be genital warts. Lol. Fear is a strange thing and it doesn't always make sense. It helps if you know your fears are unfounded; then you can talk yourself out of it eventually.

You'll know if you ever get warts of herpes. It will look entirely different than HS. Just remind yourself about that every time you feel yourself worrying.

I HAVE THE SAME FEAR! I'm faithfully married, and I trust my husband, BUT, sometimes when a sore spot starts coming up my first thought are of herpes...???...I find myself googling pics and looking for answers to whether or not you can contract herpes and have no symptoms for years, thinking maybe it's been dormant since I was a single woman even though I've been tested repeatedly for all STDs before I got married. It always ends up being just another swollen, irratated, pain in the @**. Your not alone.
