Hi gang,
Has anybody ever used clyndamycin.... Elisa had that in the hospital and came home and got another bobo so put her back on the clyndamycin...I hope she can tolerate this drug okay...am worried about it....

Hi Tangerine,

I'm on rifampicin and clindamycin ATM. Not sure, but I think the rifampicin somehow makes the other antibiotic react better with my body. They initially had a massive impact on my condition but like most antibiotics, eventually they just keep the condition at bay. Keflex/Keflor was also really good at first.

From a 2006 study in the UK:
"Fourteen patients with HS had received treatment with combination therapy with clindamycin and rifampicin. Eight of these patients achieved remission and a further two achieved remission when minocycline was substituted for clindamycin. Four patients were unable to tolerate therapy."

you should try a combination of clindamycin and rifampicin.

She already has diarrhea from the clindamycin so am not going there with this drug..... Called the doctor and he said put her on bactrim. I dont believe in cures anymore....The high powered antibiotics do nothing but tear up the gut and cause issues if you are a female....Have tried everything known toman to help my daughter with this condition and nothing really works long term..... She has Down Syndrome and the immune system is weaker than the average bear...so we just do the best we can..... Tangerinebear xo

I am sorry to hear that it is so difficult for her. I do not think the antibiotics help the HS but you have to take something for the seconday infection or the infection will spread. Can she take Cipro or a less harsh antibiotic?

It did'nt do nothing for me ,, all it did was gave me the runs............ ...(bathroom) I'm taking nothing now onky my Xanax until my next Dr appt. ............now since my last appt. i now have 2 on my butt cheek, 1 need my navel.. I'm getting very annoyed with this....

I had a sore pop up while on clindamycin so its no good for me. Plus I have Ulcerative Colitis and shouldn't be taking it anyways. Anyways, I hope it works for her.

Elisa has always had breakouts on antibiotics so PLEASE!!!!! Doctors are so dumb to think it wil prevent breakouts...they do help with secondary infection though.....Tangerinebear xo We do use clyndamycin topical....

While antibiotics are only a bandage, they do help supress secondary infections. I was on Clindamycin and it gave me psuedo-membrane colitus. Best wishes.
