Hello :)

I am 18 years old and recently discovered I have HS only a few months ago. I have been dealing with sores and pain in my armpits and groin for almost 3 years now. I began almost four months ago taking Doxycycline, which unfortunately did nothing to help my HS. So, today I went to my Dermatologist and was put on a combonation of Clindamycin and Rifampin, I was just curious if any of you have tried these two medications together and how that experience affected you? I'm just trying to navigate my whole situation and would love to hear what you have to say.

I don't know about the Rifampin but I take clindamyacin and it seems to work pretty decent. When I first got HS it was so bad the hair under my arms would grow in patches. Now it grows normal and I don't hurt or itch very often.

I had the same thing. Doxycycline didn't seem to help but when I stopped taking it, my condition was much worse than before. I was then put on both Rifampin and Clindamycin I didn't have a flare up during my whole six month course. I returned to my dermatologist and have since stopped taking them but recently I have started to have flare ups. Good luck on your antibiotics hope they work as well for you as for me, only downside is the not eating for two hours before you take them.

Thank you so much for your replies, I did a 6 month cycle. The side effects got to me a bit, but it definitley helped with having less flare ups. I have stopped taking and It and I'm now on Doxycycline for 3 months until I go back on another 6 month cycle of the Rifampin and Clindamycin.

I don't have any personal experience with this. Rifampicin is a weapon of choice against Staphylococcus, and my major Staph issues in HS were cleaned up (seemingly for good) already, probably with erythromycin, before the rifampicin-clindamycin combination started getting attention.

We have a report that rifampicin can interfere with clindamycin that your caregiver might want to be aware of if they aren't already. It could help them to achieve better results.

I can't remember if I've been on that specific combination, but no antibiotic or antibiotic combination has ever helped me the slightest.

the only thing that helped me was a 3 month course of bactrim which stopped the flare up for 5 years now its come back and I live in a different state and the current dermatologist gave me clindamyacin and doxycycline which i told her won't work and the only other option she gave me was humera which i won't take. so now i have to fly back to california and go to the previous derm and pay out of pocket for her help

All those meds don't help they didn't help me I had to get rid of them and do it naturally but every time I post about how I reversed my condition My posts and comments get deleted. Because this site doesn't want you to know how to resolve your HS like I did
