Ive been back on birth control pills since giving birth for the last six months hoping that it will help my condition but I havent noticed any difference. I used to think that it was helping me in the past but i dont know what is useful anymore. My HS has been so unpredictable since its started five years ago so i cant pinpoint what exactly helps or hinders it. My question for you girls is, do you think the BCP's is making your HS worse or better? Im contemplating going off them to see if anything changes but Im so afraid things will get even worse then they are if I do....

I can't really say because I've been on birth control pills since I was 11. (12 YEARS) I was put on it for PCOS to control my hormones.

BCPs seem to help. I'm on Yasmin.

I've been reading about B6 and its involvement in regulating hormones. I'm going to try taking it. I'm not sure of the dose but I see my doctor in a couple of days so I'll post what happens.

I was on the Depo injection for years and my flare ups were very minimal and not very often, i then had to come off the injection due to my PCOS and the HS got progressivly worse. Went to see the derm and he was really shocked by this as apparantly the injection has a hormone in it that should make HS worse but when i told him it made mine better, he was very confused.

He is now going to give me a form of BCP called Diannette just waiting for the prescription, we shall see if this makes a difference.

I was on BCP while i was taking Accutane to control HS in the 80's. It seemed to help but after I had my kido's my hormones must of changed and it no longer seemed to help. So I went off. I only had one really bad flare up that require Surgery for a 6 year periods the rest was mangeable. Now I am going thru menopause and it seems once again due to hormone changes I am having a bad flare up. So I really beliewve our hormone can cause a difference so you might want to go off for a awhile or maybe try a different strengh. Something I would ask the Doc about

When I was on it, my HS got a bit better. Now that I'm off my cysts are coming in like gangbusters.

I"ve been taking Yaz for almost 2 months and only have had one come to a head... Normally they will burst. The ones that I've had for a while seem to be clearing up also, now if I could just get the scars removed...
