Yes but I have more darkening of my skin under bandaids than scarring. Slice lemons and rub them on the armpits daily, it lightens nicely over time. It also keeps the smell down for those who don't/can't deodorant. Google "lighten armpits with lemon" for more info. It may work in others areas too.

I too have "lumpy bumpy skin" from the use of bandaids. Even though they are latex free I gather it's the "glue" that makes them stick which is the problem. I use Paper Tape, Johnson and Johnson, and that doesn't see to bother me too much. Although sometimes it rips my skin off and I end up bleeding which leads me to use another bandaid. It's a never ending battle.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that plastic wrap works well if you use some type of cream or salve on wounds. It sticks to my manuka honey and vinilin without me having to use bandages. This doesn't work well for those who need to trap drainage though. Only when needing to make a lump shrink, I don't have much drainage anymore after using my treatments.

Someone on here posted that they liked liquid bandages, I think it was CatrinJenkins. I think that might be a good idea! I dunno, maybe give that a try? Good luck.

@purpleworld: You use the manuka honey to shrink the bumps? does it work? I have manuka honey soap that I use and I have the tube of honey, but didn't know how it should be used.

The liquid bandage burned me more than anything, it was like applying wart remover or callous remover. All it seemed to do was keep the sore from breathing, which made it swell larger faster.


@happy2gether-Yes, I use it alone and mixed with turmeric and apply topically. You can also take the honey orally. I does help alot especially when you need one to drain.

I never use bandaids for hs. Ouch that sounds kinda painful actually.

I go through a box of 25 Gauze Pads from Johnson & Johnson. I get the 4X 4 then you can use them long ways or as a square patch, or fold them the other way, and just tuck them where the ouchy is. I know that under the arms is hard because your always moving them, so you might have to use a little non-stick tape (body kind) to hold it there. But it works great under the breast, groin area, and butt area, because there are folds there. I hope that helps without sounding too gross.

thanks for the suggestions but looks like I will be a slave to the bandaid for life. Ive tried using gauze under my arms but I find it shifts around too much. Purpleworld - thanks for the tip about the lemon. I will definitely give it a try once my sores start to heal.

Have you tried using gauze with the bandage wrapping doctors typically use when drawing bloos? The bandage will stick to itself and not you or the wound...

I do prefer the wrap doctors use but I have not been able to find the same type in stores. Where would I get it from?

Ariesgurl--you can get them at Walmart, or Vons.

Coconut oil on a cotton ball. Soak the bandaid and it comes off without pulling your skin with it.

bandaids cause my skin to bubble and peel off under the adhesive parts. I have found that using panty liners, attached to my clothing works well. I have hs on my rear end and groin, so I'm not sure how it would work in the arm pits.

Be very careful using pantyliners. They can be very irritating for HS. Try to use all cotton liners.

I use scissors to cut away large parts of the bandaids to minimize the amount of irritated skin.
It's not perfect, but it makes it bearable.
