acne treatment Pittsburgh
Thanks in advance.
I'm really glad you've found something that's working for you. Any anti-acne medication or treatment I have tried has been absolutely no use to me, so it's nice to see that some people are benefiting from it.
As far as colloidal silver goes, I don't wish to step on anybody's beliefs or whatever here, so I will say in advance that this is my own opinion, formed from my own research.
Colloidal silver's effectiveness is due to silver being a mild antiseptic and antimicrobial agent. It has much the same effect on microbes as other heavy metals, like mercury or lead, which of course are highly toxic to humans; silver is still toxic, but far less so. I would posit that colloidal silver's effectiveness in treating certain HS outbreaks is due to the fact that it fights secondary infection, rather than treating any underlying issue, and for this reason I believe one would probably get better results in those cases simply using antibiotics.
I dislike using antibiotics, personally, since for every person that uses them for something non-life-threatening, they become slightly less effective for the people whose lives depend on them, so I avoid taking them whenever I can. However, in the case of bad outbreaks, I believe a short-term course of antibiotics would be more helpful than colloidal silver, and as a long-term treatment, something that addresses the fundamental causes of HS (like the turmeric and zinc program that has helped a lot of people) would be more effective than colloidal silver.
It's possible, Melisa, that your previous outbreaks were being exacerbated by secondary infection, which is why the colloidal silver helped you so much, and that your new outbreaks are simply "base HS" for want of a better term. Certainly from my own experience, my groin/thigh outbreaks are less prone to secondary infection than my axillary ones, and they can be much more distractingly painful as there is no position I can be in (standing, sitting, lying down) that will alleviate the pain.
I should also point out that Argyria and argyrosis are the names of the conditions caused by excessive intake of silver, and they most definitely are real things. They're caused by the accumulation of silver in the skin (argyria) and eye (argyrosis) and they generally happen over the course of several years with extensive colloidal silver use. There is also one documented case of a death likely caused by excessive colloidal silver intake, so it is not completely and totally safe. Still. nothing is completely and totally safe. Even too much water can kill you.
Sorry, I've just noticed that this thread is quite old, but with new replies. I'll still post it, though, for anyone who reads it looking for advice about colloidal silver. I hope your treatment is still working for you, Melisa.
