ok our little friend, google suboxone, and read everything you can about it. It is a very good drug for opiate/heroin addiction. Justin and Layne will give you the best info on the detoxing, But what I remember when Aaron detoxed, he had to be detoxed from the heroin for 5 days before he could start the suboxone, can't remember why exactly - think? it had something to do with side effects, and the vital stats taken and watched closely while in detox or detoxing at home. After 5 days I think the worst of the withdrawals are gone. What suboxone does is blocks something in your brain, that takes away the cravings. I know that justin and Layne can give you much better and more info on it. Suboxone is a sublimanil (sp?) pill, that is not swallowed, but put under your tongue to dissolve.. I am an advocate of suboxone and saved my son's and many other opiate/heroin addict's lives. It is rated highly by the addicts that are on it, and their loved ones. The only draw back is - the mfg., of suboxone have the only patent on it until either December 2009, or December 2010. So it is very expensive, and without insurance, a 30 day supply will cost you $350-400/month, that is the cost for the 8 mg., Aaron takes 8mg 1 1/2x/day, which is 45 pills. It's almost next to impossible to get assistance from the drug mfg., as they only allow each psy dr. 2 free patients meds per every 60 patients they treat. If you have 1/2 way decent insurance, then you probably will pay only $50/month. You will have to see a psy dr once a month, and qualified and approved to treat and write suboxone scripts for his patients. But I really think it is some you should look into, and will help you if taken correctly.

Bcolliesmom is correct look just google suboxone and you will find everything that you need to know. You're going to have to go to a Dr.that is able to prescribe suboxone bc not just anyone can give this stuff out so on the websites there will be a Dr. locator. Make sure that you are honest with the doc this is a must. As far as help with cocaine cravings I've never heard of sub being used for that so just tell the doc about the coke I think that they have some anti-convulsant GABA drugs to help with that.

Now the big thing I have to say is are you doing this for you? It sounds like you want to get sober for other people and not yourself. While that's very noble of you in most cases that doesn't work I tried to clean up so many times for people other then myself. All I did was go through the motions and hid my drug use as much as I could therefor looking like more of a liar. All I want to say to you is that you're still young get out of this drug game while you can!! Good luck.

Layne is right not all psy drs are able or qualified to give you the script. Go to this link, and you can put in your name and print out a card that will help with a discount off the pharmacy retail price for suboxone, for people who don't have insurance, or their insurance doesn't offer or pay for scripts. When Aaron changed jobs a year and a half ago, and had a month or two lapse without health insurance, and had the "pre-existing" condition BS, he had to wait a year to enroll in the employer's insurance, so I used this card and got a discount off the suboxone. It's not a hug discount, but I think it took $30 - $50 off the cost.. I felt the same way you do, I really didn't care about the cost, it got rid of aaron's cravings, along with saving his life from the horrible opiate/heroin addiction. He has been on it for 2 years now, with excellent results. Shelly4 has 2 sons who are on suboxone for over a year, with great results.

Layne has given you excellent advise - I too feel when you do go to the dr., be totally honest with him about the coke, speedballs, etc.,that way he will be able to help you 100% and guide you in the right direction. There are two things I believe in 150%, Always be 100% honest with your doctor and your lawyer. Because if you bullshit either one, you will lose the 2 that you need most when you are in critical situations. Layne's also right about getting clean and into recovery when you are young, and haven't been in the drug game as long, the longer you or anyone is addicted and using, the more progressive the addiction becomes, and harder to get into recovery.

I remember the doctor telling us that Suboxone is a tool, not the cure, so be sure to remember that.

just google info about suboxone and pregnacy. Now please don't tell me your pregnant?! Don't you think that you should take care of yourself before you try to take care of this poor child? No offense but you have alot of emotional problems plus a drug problem to get help with and bringing a child into all of that chaos is NOT fair,very selfish, as well as a huge burden on yourself. I'm not trying to put you down just trying to help you out. Is abortion or adoption an option for you?

Taylor - please tell me you are not pregnant, especially with the fucking abuser asshole you are with - that is not a good situation. I understand you have been pregnant before, and lost the baby, but alot of women feel if they have a child it will turn everything around, and they also feel having a baby will give them the unconditional love thing. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but a baby will only mount on the already existing turmoil and problems. Like Layne, we would like to see you well and stable before you have more responsibility with a baby.

I know I wasn't being a jerk trust me a not so obvious way I was being a caring person that I know you need in life. Ad far as the bf saying he will stop the abuse I call bullshit! I don't know I just know the type and he will ALWAYS be an abusive piece of shit period. Take some serious psych classes in college and it will give you an insure on why he's the way he is as well as yourself. If you have a baby all that does is give him another person to beat on and fuck up. I've said what I had to say,and want you to know that I'm saying all of this out of care for you and this poor poor unborn child.

This is what you need to understand. Because of things that have happened to you in life ie:rape,beatings,any childhood trauma you are a classic victim,and I'm sorry all these happened to you which has lead you down this path. Now you "wonderful" bf is a victimizer,and vicitimizers smell out vicins such as yourself. He's not taking steps to try and break this cycle so he can say he will stop but that's just him telling you what you want to hear. A kid will not, I repeat will not fix your relationship! My advice to you is get an abortion,leave the victimizer and get take care of yourself through years of therapy,and whatever you need to get off drugs. Please just do this,get into school and make a good life for yourself.

alllsssoooo.. the more i think about it (and i havent stopped thinking about it) this gives me one solid reason to get and STAY sober because i would NEVER NEVER NEVER put drugs in a house with a baby

it does work and is good but DO NOT TAKE IT WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT!!!!!!!
You need to be on methadone while you are pregnant and as long as you get to 8ml or below before the baby is born it will have no or very minor withdrawals.
