The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. I had lab last Friday. I just got this in the mail from my Dr.

Your liver tests still are mildly elevated showing th ALT at 114 and AST of 72. Your bilirubin is normal at 0.8. If you wish to proceed with treatment for the hepatitusC, please let me know.
To me, this does not sound like it is something I need to do right now. I am confused. Let me know what some of your numbers were. thanks

My ALT and AST are currently 89 and 60 and I am starting treatment in a few weeks.
My doc isn't basing my treatment so much on the ALT and AST numbers as he is the results of my liver biopsy, my age, my overall health, results of other blood work, etc.
So...if you want to know whether to treat or not, these numbers aren't the only factor.
With you being a type 2a, you have a much better chance at achieving SVR with treatment (80-90% I think) than those of us with type 1 and you'd take treatment for 24 weeks instead of 48.
I think it's an odd way for your doctor to inform you of your results and then pose the treatment question to you. You should have a face to face with him and get more information on what he feels you should do and then you can make your decision.
