Working on week 2 of Viekira Pak (no Riba). Going very well - had my first side effect yesterday and this morning. A mild itching on my back. Feels like the itching you get when you had a sunburn, and the skin is starting to peel. Not bad at all - kind of comes and goes. Everything else is lovely. Good energy level and appetite!

my father is on his 6 week on viekira and RBV. He has got some results of his 5 week
Ast 318 then, 35 now
Alt 279 then, 23 now
Vl inf to 600000, 18 after 3 week
We are still waiting his 4 week results. Everything is going on, he feels just less hungry than usual and his blood pressure was surprisingly a bit high.

Wow llory, his liver enzymes were really high. That is a great sign that they have dropped so much. Sounds like he is doing good. That RIBA will definitely mess with your appetite!

Walkintheup1 - haven't been posting since I really don't have anything to report. Everything is great. No sides at all. Yesterday washed the car and the truck. Today worked out in the yard all day. Will do my 2 week blood work Friday.

Insurance paid for most of it. Just had a small copay every month.

lilly699 if u have no insurance gilead has a program I am not sure if abbvie does but for harvoni there is a program I think the link is on one of these threads if you look back I am sure its still there

Quick update. I am on week 3 of Viekira Pak (no Riba since I am Geno 1b). Going very well. If I have any side effects, it is some insomnia. I go to sleep quickly, but I am sometimes waking up in the middle of the night, and cannot go back to sleep. I have to get up and read for about an hour, and then I am sleepy again. Did this some before treatment, so not sure if it is the pills. I have been taking a nap around noon, so it hasn't been a big deal. Energy level is good!

For those of you starting out on Vpak, be sure to eat something along with your pill intake. If you read the trial data, the 20-30% fat in food really boosted the drug reaction. Also for those of you wondering if the side effects you are having will get better or worse, the maximum drug concentration in the body is reached at approximately 12 days. So if you are doing good after 2 weeks, you will probably breeze right through. If you are taking the Ribavirin also, that is another story. Hope everyone has as easy a ride as I have had - this is a miracle drug!

thank you for the update so glad you are doing well I have just started week 2 on v pak I have a lot of water retention if its from this or not not sure I plan to talk to dr tomorrow and ask a little tired and a little insomnia but have had insomnia for a while so its not the v pak so much but maybe a little worse now I hope this swelling goes down tho I look eight months pregnant oh well if I get cured I will suffer thru it

walkintheup1 - I have gained 2 pounds in 3 weeks, so maybe I am retaining water also. Seems like I am hungrier than before!
