Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Well, the nurse just called. She said the doctor was out this week and hasn't reviewed my week 12 lab results, but she wanted to let me know that the viral count came back undetected.
My ferritin levels are still high, and my red blood cell count is a bit low, but all in all it was great news.
I know from reading other posts that there's no guarantees that this virus won't come back, but considering the alternative, I am pleased.
I see the doc on 12/5 to discuss the remainder of my tx.
