Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
The liver ultrasound I had done on November 5th says there are some gall stones. I believe this is why I may be having the right side pain since September?
It also showed something to do with "dilation of the right side duct(s) of the liver"? Not sure what that really is or if that is contributing to the ache or perhaps causing the stones to form in the first place?
Good news is there is no suspicious markings or cancer as they check for that most with the liver ultrasound with doppler (about 100 images were taken).
I will hear from the hepatologist within a day or two (minus the holiday) to hear the specifics of the results and if anything more needs to be done or treated.
Anyone have similar findings or know much about these things?

As far as I know, I have only developed them in recent years, as my 2011 imaging didn't show them.....that they told me anyways....So if I have to live with them for a few years, well, I guess so then. Must just be the luck of the draw I suppose.

Thank you for all the facts and info! I will have my hep/gastro doc tell me next week what she thinks, perhaps how big they are for that may be a problem? The dilation is something I am sure she will be addressing then too. And, of course, what she thinks I should do. I will officially be seeing her again in Feb and I am sure she will be excited to tell me more about the news meds for HCV by that time to say the least!

My blood results are fine, I do have the mild ache in the right side, and I get a mild fever here and there, but typically it is at normal range. I can not stand pain, but try to put up with as much of it as I can. For instance, if I get a headache, I wait it out all day, but when I go to bed, I HAVE to take a pain med (usually motrin) and an ice pack. I cannot fall asleep if I have a headache-have to get rid of it first!
p.s. I do have and infection....but unfortunately, they call it HCV... ;)
The gallstones are asymptomatic and therefore there is no recommended surgery or procedure.
I have had neither of these conditions before, so I have no idea what to think of this. I will get a chance tomorrow to talk to a member of her staff about the gall stones and any questions I might have about the kidney.
