Clovers, I have hepC/stage 4 cirrhosis and I went thru treatment in 2000 with interferon/ribaviran and relapsed after 5 months off treatment. I am on week 22 of Triple therapy (incivek, pegasys, ribavirin) and while the side effects are rough, I am hanging in there with the help of these good people and the friends that God has blessed me with. There have been times I didn't know how I would make it, but at 12 weeks I became undetectable and have been so ever since. For me, even tho I had to take a med disability leave, if I am able to slay this dragon all is worth while!!

Geno1 cirrhotic but compensating. Did Riba/Inf two years ago but didn't get a 2 log drop by week 12 so stopped.
Treatment was rough and I'm still trying to recover from symptoms I never had before treatment.
Liver Centre tells me trying Interferon based treatments is a long shot and has advised me to wait for new treatments.

thanx guys; I also did the inter/rib apx 5yrs ago... side effects were awful just awful and Louie I also feel as tho I was doing better b-4 the inter/riba. its taken me years to feel a lil better.. but I still suffer the sides of the cirrhosis.. weakness, joint aches, now I'm starting to notice memory loss (not a good sign) but thanks to Lou I got some gr-8 info went to craigs link and to the alcoholic cirrhosis as a syndrome great info which I will be using.. I now know that I don't have to sit and wait to leave this world there are treatment that can prolong and subdue this monster Thank you guys your a God Send!!

Those "sides" could be from tx. Are you compensated still?

I have stage 4 cirrhosis and have tried treatment twice. Both unsuccessfully. I cannot say if the state of my liver made the side effects worse or if treatment caused further damage to my liver. I feel pretty good now that I have been off treatment for a few months and I am trying to find a clinical trial. I wish you the best in your decision making process.

@Louiie, as for have a decomp liv or compt liv i really don't know, but from what I've read so far, I think it's decomp, due to the fact that my side effects are as follows::joint pain, muscle weakness, fluid retention, most important memory loss, dizziness, my memory is getting really bad I'm losing things, and at times very confused.. I amgoing to see my old doc this week and then next week I have an appt to see a liver spclst.. hopefully I can get more info from the liv spclt.. Lou, can someone have a compensated liver with the above sides. well Louie I'm off to meet the sandman ;0) thanx again for all your help, will keep you in my prayers.. your bklyn bud lucy :0)
