Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

Finally I just watched for the first time today on Canadian TV ( didn't get the channel) a commercial promoting testing for the Hep C Virus. I've seen several before supporting ads for liver disease but this one was targeting testing and Hep C. So glad it's out there. It's making people be more aware of this damned virus and maybe helping others understand what we are going through.

It's on Youtube. Mike Macdonald No Laughing Matter. Maybe the commercial has been out for awhile but it's the first time I've seen it.

Thank you. I saw some press about Mike Macdonald a couple months ago, but not this actual commercial.
I'll keep an eye out for it and let you know if I see it aired again! :)

Canada's gettinhg it done. Probably the most free country in the world right now. We ahve become commersit in a way we didnt even see it coming sad really wish some of that wood rube off on us But no all they can do is fight and dig up dirk on theere compation We will pay for it I know in my heart I can feel it coming.

I think that's an excellent idea for Canada and all other western countries who will actually offer treatment to those who test positive. Sadly, things work differently here. And NO, I will never stop posting on the topic healthcare in U.S. or lack thereof.

I saw a blip about it on the news one evening and that was it. They are so afraid of causing a public panic that we're still hiding it here in the US I think. I do know that my HCV doctors office is getting busier though! Good sign!

A few months ago there was a commercial here that I saw once or twice it had huge yellow letters (like a sculpture) HCV out on the street and some guy asked people that passed it by what it meant..and nobody seemed to know and nobody offered an explanation....hum...

I recently tried to arrange Travel Insurance and when I told the agent I had Hepatitis C she asked me if I got it from eating the food on my last trip to Cuba. Now this is the gal who is supposed to be asking all information on pre existing conditions for Travel Insurance and ManuLife Insurance. What the hey??

the commercial that I saw on Canadian tv was the same one that is on Youtube with Mike MacDonald a Canadian comedian. just search for Mike Macdonald liver disease commercial on Youtube.
