Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
Treatment messed with my thyroid so that I have hypothyroidism for which I take one simple pill a day...no complaints on that one.
I also now have pre-diabetes for which I closely watch my carb intake. I really don't have any complaints about this either as the HCV that I had for 50+ years was the culprit on this, not the treatment.
I had bone thinning from the treatment meds (osteopenia) for which I am being watched.
None of these things are really an issue to me...just part of my life WITHOUT Hep C.
I consider myself to be extremely fortunate.
@ kary thats great you are 95% there, especially since there was not feeling sick at all. I think I keep hearing of the people who are still feeling many residual effects form the treatment and its important for me to know that Im not going into this feeling good only to come out of it feeling crappy for the rest of my days. So this is good so far :)
I'm hoping I'll feel 30 years younger in 6 months.
