I don't have any experience with that combination, but I do know that I suffered greatly on pegylated interferon & riba. I would doubt if adding another drug to the mix would lessen the effects.

Good luck to you. How long do the trials last? Is it 24 or 48 weeks?

I did Peginterferon, Ribavirin, and Incivek. Hate to say it, but I agree with MrOSO. For me, Incivek just added to the misery...

But, 3a has a much higher success rate than other genotypes. It's worth a try. But I would wait for a non-Interferon treatment to come along if I had the option of waiting.

Hi Pegy, I too would wait for a non-interferon treatment or trial. Do you have any info on the trial? I see one in UK for Sofosbuvir+PEG+RBV for 12 Weeks - if that is the one you're talking about? I also see a couple trials without interferon. Since SOC didn't work the first time I would think you'd need a combination of DAAs.

hey if its only 12 wks or 24...thats about where the unbearable sides come.....or wait...depending on liver cond..3 s eat up the liver faster..progresses quicker...im sure its no more than 24 wks. Depending on bloodwork...what wk. Undetectable??a pc of cake.....hey it feels real good to gotten rid of that damned virus..it was eating me alive...i drink a couple beers every night after 12 hr shift.....need my mental therapy and psych drugs..no insurance.... But im virus free it feels great....amen...thank u jesus

no matter how long...12 weeks or 24... the virus is resistant to interferon... just my opinion.

yeah it isnt another 52 week trek and i like the idea of 12, or 24, they dont know which yet, but i will know more next week after bloods come back.
also, i understand with this tx that there isnt just one shot a week, but more. does anyone know if this is correct?

What you see is a simple market take over. Incivek is black boxed in the US and the easiest way to get approvals from the local authorities ,is the piggyback the pill on two other approved drug. Incivek replaced by Sofo for now but in a few months Gilead will bring out the interferon free treatment. It has bean tried and worked but the submission process take some time.

Hi, just my opinion, but my feelings about interferon is if you failed once using it - just my opinion - I sure wouldn't rely on it again to cure me.

I failed on the new triple with Riba, Interferon, and Incevilk. My IL28B was CT which as a clue to why I didn't clear.

I finished the new combo treatment with Gillead trial and it was like taking a vitamin every day. No side effects. And time will tell if my 12 week post TX test is still clear.

If you had a rough time with Inter + Riba - adding a third drug will be horrible. I blamed Incivek for making me so sick. My trial doctor said it was the interferon interacting with the incevil.

What is sofo?? Is that Gilead's Sofosbuvir? I wonder why they would mix it with Interferon for a geno 3? They are going for fda approval using sofosbuvir without interferon for geno 2 and 3. And they expect approval Dec 8.

After approval, geno 1's will do Sofosbuvir with interferon and riba. I asked my trial doc if it would make you as sick as Incivek. He just said - "well, it;s only for 12 weeks"

My final thought - if you have been invited to join a trial I would have a hard time saying no. I researched my trial and knew exactly what I was getting. I love the combo. If you are in good the trial site - you might inquire as to the possibility of letting you join a future trial with the combo or the fda approval of sofosbuvir only for geno 2 and 3.

If you jump in and go for it - our group knows how to solve side effects issues.

thanks for your advice. i've taken it all in and will chat with my docs next week.
i guess they're offering me this trial cos i'm at end stage liver disease and they say i will only get one chance at it. you might also ask why i did 54 wks of peg and riba as geno 3a and their answer to that was that tx was lengthened cos tx doesnt react v well to cirrhosis.
my son cleared on 24 wks of sofas and riba. he is now 24 wks svr, but although he didnt respond to tx the first time round, he doesnt have the damage that i have, just slight fibrosis.
if i could do the double tx i would, beieve me, but they wont put me on it cos they say it would be no good for me.
