Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

It taunted me. Clinging to the back corner of the second shelf in my refrigerator the white box, secure in it's shimmering zip loc, knew it would be the last. "There's still two of us" one whispered to the other two weeks ago. Last week there was only one, and somehow it didn't seem so confident. About an hour ago I quite unceremoniously pulled the last little soldier, with his single red leg and funny, almost french, grey cap, out from spot he and his buddies had occupied for 24 weeks and emptied him. Gone. Done. After 24 weeks the last shot now lies at the top of a heap in a sharps container. Praise God I am done with these shots!

I'll bet your weeks went by much faster for me than they did you! I remember when you started. Congratulations on meeting goal of completing tx, I believe you will remain SVR.

I also finished my 24th shot a couple months back and went through somewhat of a ceremony in my head about it. I only today grabbed my container of spent 'sharps' to drop off for disposal at my hep doc's office tomorrow. Even now, it seems like a life that wasn't mine- really more of a nightmarish time out of time. Was that really me all white, enemic, hovering over the porcelin puking? Was it me breathless after walking 20 feet and the very thought of hiking the mountains out my door nothing but a future wish?
It's all over now and I feel the immense sweetness of my healthy life now. I wish the same for you. May you quickly regain your strength and be in thanks of this being behind you.
Congrats on your perserverence and better life ahead.
