Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.

Does anyone know if these people all clear it at the beginning, when they're first exposed, or if anyone has done this after having the virus be active for years? Keith Richards says in his memoir that he cleared it,but he doesn't say how or when.

woodweed, i wonder if you have the Il28B gene CC ? i bet you do and that's why you cleared it on your own. so fantastic!!!

Idk.. doc never did those tests to determine the gene code... But the rest of the assumption fits. So, maybe?

The only ones I've heard of cleared it early. Johnny D says he cleared it in a few months, and that he no longer has the antibodies. That is unusual.

Ya know this was eating at my craw today....I wonder how many 15%r's have the iL28b gene..wonder if there was a study....and suppose I get my blood test and find out I have this great gene...then whey didn't I clear it...just saying...time to start researching again...Ill be back if I find anything!

I have no idea what genotype I am. Never tested. I have my followup test in 2 weeks. With some luck, the negative test in Jan wasn't an error. Crossing anything that will cross. I still check research about the acute type of the virus.

I consider myself extremely lucky at this point. My body usually doesn't cooperate this well, and I am having a hard time believing it really has... This virus really wrecks your perception of things for sure.... I know my head is messed up thinking about it....

Anyone else out here been through the acute type? If so, what are your thoughts?
