I read this only happens in the Acute stage, so the first 6 months of contracting it, after that they call it chronic. I have heard of Chronic spontaneously clearing but in extremely rare cases. It seems little is known about these things. I always thought if they found a person immune than they found a cure within that person but It doesn't seem to be the case with HEP C. I am always hoping and praying I will spontaneously clear but realistically that's a set up for disappointment i think.

Think Richards had a complete oil change over in Europe...there is a procedure there almost like ozone therapy where they take all of your blood and cleanse it.....@Arabella...yes...the acute stage of 6 months seems to be the lucky number for those of them that have cleared...but I was just talking about this on the complimentary site....check it out over there!

It is my understanding again, just like success of treatment, spontaneous clearing of hcv has to do with one's genetics.

Hi. I am a 15%er. I was exposed to hep c sometime after my last blood donation in August last year. My blood was not an issue at that time. So, we know it was after that. I have no idea how. Doc said sometimes we don't know. But I developed an acute reaction by the middle to end of October. I was actually in the hospital for another issue when the hep c was dx. I was a very sick pup and didn't start to feel better until the weekend before Christmas. I had a vl of 6mil. in November. The first week of Jan I had another vl done. Results came back on Friday the 13th... I was negative. My body had fought it off without tx... although I was very sick. I have a followup vl test around the end of March just to be on the safe side... But as far as I know now, I am "undie" and clear...

My X hubby had Hep C......we were still married when he was dx.(1997)......... I was tested x2 for it and was negative.

In July 1999 I got a bladder infection and was given Bactrim....within 3 days I was VERY sick and jaundiced...was tested again for any and all Hep's...........this time it came back positive for Hep C.

Doc immediately took me off the Bactrim ( I had insurance then - good insurance) and about 1 month later re-tested me for Hep C.......this time it was negative.

Hubby and I split and I moved to Texas...........injured my shoulder at work and went to doctor..............never even mentioned HCV to him..........(this was 2002).............for some reason (?) he did blood work - for a hurt shoulder??.............he told me I had Hep C???????

2004 (?) maybe 2005................ended up in hospital because of CHF..............no HEP C??????????????

Haven't been tested since. Did I have it and cleared it?? Do I still have it hidden way somewhere?? Did I ever have it???

Beats me...........but I do know this....I have NEVER taken Bactrim again.....and never will:(:( Some drugs are just dangerous to folks:(:(

Prednisone was my issue. I had an allergic reaction that threw my diabetes into the stratosphere. That is what put me in the hospital when I got the dx for hep c. But, we were sure of it. Vl of 6 mil.

OK Woodweed is one of those lucky 15%er's....but you would think they would take a look at HER blood chemistry and try to figure it all out....kinda like this....

Thanks Goose. I am blessed. I would be happy as a clam if something in my blood could help find a cure... And, no one would ever have to go through this again.

Yeah, the red cross won't take me anymore. I was over 2 gallons... Even tho I am clear, the antibodies in my body will trigger all the bells & whistles... So, no more...

As Mosrite said, genetics are a big factor: In cases of acute hcv infection, women with an il28b- C/C who also develop jaundice, tended to spontaneously clear the virus more often than other...

I did show all the side effects except vomiting. Doc said the same thing about showing jaundice (especially). He said that is the most telling symptom that induces clearing. He also said he has only had a handful of acute cases in his long career. So, it doesn't happen often.
