I could be starting harvoni soon, we are in the application to insurance phase. It will be my third treatment :)

Hmm I am surprised usually if you are a 1a they give you the Harvoni which is what I am on. Who knows....Either way you will do ok just believe in it !!!

I know that is what my dr first said I would be own. I not sure why I got denied and I'm not very happy about it. But I guess I will take what they approve for me.I just kinda scare tho especially having to take the ribavirin. I been in stage 2 for about a year now. I did a ultra sound last month and she said my liver is bumpy that I really need to do it now. She also said after 50 it progresses faster n I turn 50 this month.

Donna - our insurance dictates what we take and I hate that!!

I know these pills cost a fortune, some are over $1,000 a pill.
The drug manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves, but they only care about the mighty dollar.

The insurance companies are now realizing just how many of us are out there with this disease as we have been able to stay in the dark for long periods of time before it rears it's ugly head on us.

The virus goes through cycles of activity vs passivity. I did not know I had hcv till I was 55, & stage 3 by biopsy. I'm still alive & well compensated. The doctor says it is probably because I don't drink.
HCV is a d low moving virus. Don't let anyone place fear in you, the stress can make it worse.
I do get flu shots because of my profession. It has nothing to do with treatment, except, you want to be at optimal health while fighting the dragon.

I asked both my primary and liver guy(gastroenterologist) about flu shots. they both said no problem. although I will not begin my harvoni till march or so. I have been on three different regimines of inter.riba. and the latest included that toxic crap they call incivic. almost died on that one. but if I want to live I have to keep the fight going. EVERY DAY!! diet, exercise. mental acuity about my surroundings. and faith that I will eventually be free of this.stay with it if you love your life and your family.

DonnaWhite...........I think getting the flu shot is a personal decision . I decided I am not going to get it this year because of what happened last year. As the nurse was going to put the needle in she said and then put the needle in for the shot said "Oh by the way, this is not the flu shot for the strain that is out there right now" HUH??? Then why did she give me the damn thing!! I was so upset because I know all medicines have to go through the liver and felt like I took that medicine for no reason at all. I don't know maybe its me. "growngirl" have you figured or really have the doctors figured out if you have Hep C or Hep B ??? There is a HUGE difference !!! Like I said before I believe Hep B can get fixed in a matter of a month where as Hep C you have it for years until these new drugs came out for the Hep C and its curable for the first time really ...........Let us know what you are and maybe we can help you more. Im hep c 1a. I'm on the viekira pk n ribavirin for 12 wks. I got the flu shot before I started my treatment. I was just worried that since I got the shot I might not be able to start my treatment. But the nurse said it was ok .I got the shot like 2 days before treatment thats why I was worried.

@ trixiedaisy I was told I had hep c in 2006 I didn't get treatment then BC I was scared and didn't know nothing about it had never heard of hep nothing about two years ago I went back and tested positive for hep but was told no treatment was needed about two weeks ago I went to the doctor I was not feeling well I had my doctor to do blood work it came back positive for hep so he referred me to a G.I doctor (hematologist) he did blood work and ultrasound and said I didn't have Hep c that it was hep B that's why I'm so confused so he going to do more blood work and go from there

growngirl .........I think maybe you have gotten confused with all the Hep a , b, and c out there. I didn't know much about any of that myself but remembering my hubby had (I am not sure) A or B OR Hep C SO I dint take the Hep C serious at all !! I really did not have it so I paid it no mind. I got it years later (the Hep C that is). I think you better concentrate OR look into the symptoms of Hep B and C . First you are saying you have Hep C and then you say the dr 2 weeks ago said you did NOT have Hep C but in 2006 they said you have Hep C. It is very confusing when you don't know anything about the Hep viruses. OK now you need to be firm next time you see G.I. dr and hepatologist . You need to stick with one dr and say "what do I have I am confused IS it Hep B or Hep C ????" I don't know how much more bloodwork they can do to determine if it is Hep C it is usually a simple blood work test. I don't know what to tell you except like I said be firm and ASK what is it ?" B OR C ?? THE END !!!!. I never heard of such a thing. don't know if you are getting the 2 mixed up or what but like I aid the best way to find out is when you have your next appointment the first thing you HAVE to ask is "DO I have Hep B OR Hep C?????" so you get an answer on that.
