@ katanda. Why would organs from an organ bank be used or stored from deceased patients that had a history of hepatitis ?!! I'm assuming before they put certain organs in the "bank" the patients blood is tested thoroughly. Unless those brains have been sittin around since the 1990s lol. Wow, there's some hostility here. There are plenty of articles and papers published in 2011 from hospitals and universities showing possible reasons for cognitive impairment in HCV and HIV patients. I don't have time to link them here. I was concerned that I was having purely mental problems and I feel better knowing that there is a possible physical explanation. I understand hostility to this kind of news and hope you can blow this off if this bothers you. We're all in this together.

@Goldy - brains are not stored at an organ bank, as I understand it, brains are donated to a brain bank of a specific institution for research only. Much of this research is on brain tissue from the Manhattan HIV Brain Bank and the Manhattan Hepatology Brain Bank at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

" then talks about the triple tx like its years away. Not a hostile guy at all. I am the type of guy that will run towards a scream for help rather than away. So we're talking a " new discovery " 3 years old and I cannot remember it anywhere being discussed at the annual liver disease summits. BTW I DID NOT think that a brain was in a bank to be donated to a recipient. Even though I DO believe in Frakenstein. Or is it pronounced FrankenSHtein?! These tissue banks are also used for research. The fact that you would believe that a guy like myself meant the brain was for transplantation is incredible.
